I am down to about 12 stacked, but still putzing at the monstah in the front yard and now I have a triple leader big sweetgum to take down, should be a couple cord maybe in that one..that will be noodle and thick cookie city, ain't splittin that stuff. After that who knows, got two dead ones in the boss's yard and need to get back to clearing down a chicken house. I have no idea where to put this stuff now...

Sweetgum is good firewood if you get it split. A hydraulic splitter is useful for that stuff. I've just about had a maul get me between the eyes trying to hit green rounds of gum.

Ya it's decent wood, but no splitter here so gonna make fat cookies that will be hand splittable after some drying and noodle some.

I split most of it by hand with a monster maul but it's gotta dry for a year first. The fat cookie idea works. I was loading up 55 gallon drums with cookies today for using in the shop stove this winter. Got six drums full.

yeah it likes to bounce, black gum is the same it is so twisted.

Blackgum is hard, hard, hard on multi wedge splitters. I can forget about using the 6way on 16-18 in dia black gum. My splitter will split it, but i hate seeing the deflection on the hbeam while doing it.
