after about the ... lets be honest after the first tree I want a set up like this

as soon as i can put together some scratch...

Just remember Joe Harris is a machine and could make climbing a tree with flip flops look easy.
That said, this is a great method, at 60 years old I use it and usually substitute the hand ascender with the Unicender for quick descent capability.

Question: Does anyone know where you can get that cool elastic neck lanyard?

He sure has a way of winning competitions. I've been wathing him pretty closely and I've worked out that the way he does it is by being good. Seen the spyderjackery vids?

The neck lanyard is just a standard but of 3mm bungee cord. You can buy it from boating supplies stores, hardwares etc. Put a bit of something round it as a sheath as they've done to stop it biting into your neck.

There's nothing really that fancy about this setup... It's a standard frog walker. The only thing that makes it 'micro' is the spliced line holding it all together. A lot of cavers use a similar setup. I use the same setup sometimes, just using normal beeline instead of a spliced line. I don't like the kong futura ascender much - I use a black diamond. Not a big fan of the pantin either, it kicks out to easy and I've seen guys damage the sheath on ropes with it. Some say the easy kick out is an asset, but I'm not a fan. I use the CMI foot ascender. It's ugly as sin, looks like it was made in Russia. It has a very reliable action though.
