Like your oak slab picture, figuring is really nice. What type of oak is it?

Using high magnification and wood identification guide id say its probably post oak.

how do you like the 066 with the bb on it. how long have you had it installed? I have a new 660(4 months old) that i bought a bb kit for but i haven't installed it yet. i want to get used to the "feel" of it first then install the bb kit and see how much it improves the saw. i have one on my 441 and love it.

I like it pretty good so far. this one's not stock any more, I put a pop up piston in it set the squish at .020 gasketless and woods ported the cylinder. Shes pushing 180 psi now. These mods cut a whole minute off the cut time in that 6 ft 38" oak with a 48" mill. Not too shabby!

How long did it take cut the 6ft 38" ? a 48" mill on a 66 is bit big even with BB kit on it,

so I have been told. I have been running a modified popup piston mahle cylinder on this saw with the 48 inch mill for about 3 years. It would average about a foot per minute in 30 + inch hardwood. that's about the same as the aftermarket stock big bore kit did. I know a lotta guys running 2100 husqvarnas which have a100 cc cylinder on the larger mills. the big bore kit for the 066 is 99 cc. I have actually been surprised how well the saw handles that large of a mill. and now with the modifications it is cutting even faster. I have also used stock 066 n that doesn't work real well. modifications make a tremendous difference.

thats interesting,

i may do a BB kit and Muff/Mod to my old 066 and see how it goes, (just for crosscutting) I have an 090AV for my mill with 42", 48" and 60" bars,
Over here in OZ most guys would not go longer that 30" on a 066,(we have a lot of hardwood) the BB kit is becoming more common with older 066,(all Stihl 066 in OZ come with 91.6cc)
