On the estate were I do felling etc. the owner is putting up a large Douglas Fir barn that was used on a film 7 yrs ago. It was not stored correctly so has suffered from wood wasp and water damage.
This is also were I help out with a mobile mill so I got involved using my mini mill cutting out damaged sections ready for the carpenter to do the repairs. It is great to be involved with the project as the repair sections are milled on site from DF felled from forestery also owend by the same guy.
The original builder of the barn has just finished a large job in Turkey and is now building a replica of the Globe theater in Brazil, it is all built using DF Larch and Oak pins holding the tennon joints together.

Pretty cool. Nice pics. I hope you continue the thread with additional pics. I'm guessing you're only needed for the initial stages of the project but it would be nice to see a project completed photo too. What Stihl are you using on the mini mill?

Wow, lots of damage after only 7 years.

Will do I will be involved throughout the project and as the first part of the re build is already on it's way I'll get some more pics tomorrow. A bulk of the damage appears to have been caused by the woodwasp allowing the timber to get very wet by all the holes they bored !
It's a Brad Snelling prepared 441 with 20" bar in the mill.

A few more pics of the barn as it is going up, the guys got all the roof truses up in one day largely thanks to the rather niffty crane. You can see some more of the repairs and replacement parts in the pics.
