I have several of those flattening bits like in your picture and they have done well. My last table I bought this bit and it left alot better finish, so that's alot less sanding in the end. Plus you can get 3 of these almost for that one.

I bought one of those 4-winged cheap ones which I planned to use but never did. The Whiteside is top of the line and out of reach. But the ones you cited are reasonable and replacement tips. I'll have to get one once I use up the other.

I upgraded my old angle iron router sled yesterday to to actual sled rails. WOW....what a difference, I wish I'd done this a few years ago
How are they, what diameter did you go with and do they have much flex? Considering using the same style rails, two sets stacked perpendicular, to make my sled system.

Here is the link to the one I got. I've got my table set up at 48". This was my first go with them, I hadn't notice any flex yet.

I have several of the straight 4 winged one that has cut a good bit and then trash them. I got this 2.5" because there is a lot of leveling to do on this cottonwood.
I have another 1.5" for a year now and haven't used it yet.
