Now I don't feel so bad, if " Big Bad John " can come out in public and show the world that he has a mini XL, I guess I can come out of the closest and say that I have one "oops" two of them  one with a big 10 inch on it and the other for the those real big 12 inch logs. :blob2: plus others

So, when is the big race???

Larry

i have 3 of these i got have one that works completly, they work good for some fast limbing, but i was wondering if anybody knew the recommended settings for the fuel screws.

I'm pretty sure that fuel mix should 32:1 is how we mix ours. Pretty cool little saws seeing one with a pipe would be cool.

I've got 5 or 6 of those little Homies - XL, XL2, Super 2, I really like those little saws for limbing & small stuff. They're reliable, light and make pretty good power for such a small package........enjoy! Matt

Quad saw

I carry one of these little guys on my quad for trail clearing.Open up the muffler a little and it'll really scream.Working on a 021 to help it out a little.Just made a "winch boom "for the back of the quad to use as a little skidder.Lots of wood thats to hard to get to.I'll try to get pics of my rig posted.

Any pictures of that "Winch Boom" ?

Ive got one from 1979, Metal case version.

Great saw, has dropped tons of medium and small trees, limbed them, then cut em up into firewood. Worked like a dog after Ivan, I went through a few chains cutting stuff up with a 16" bar and 3/8" LP.

Then something happened, Im not sure what, but it refused to idle, and seemed to run very lean.

So now Im looking for a new carb, also need a fuel tank for it.

I've got the same exact saw. Mine has low, high, and idle screws. All right there together. It will idle indefinately and purrs like a kitten. I believe it's only 26cc though. The filter setup is rather odd. Nothing to hold it in place.
That's just how they work though.

I was just wondering how you guys were making out and wether you got the timber down and out yet?

That's so

this really old thread deserves a bump for those who aren't aware of John's sense of humor (humour in Canada).

And since my search brought me to this thread,
I might as well ask--Does anyone know anything about the
Homelite Little Red XL?

Somehow missed this thread but just read through it. Here's a couple months old pic of a Homie XL I found locally in a classified/sell ad...scored the saw for $5, bought the red Homie bar from a member here to throw on it...bar that came with it was pinched pretty bad. Running 3/8 LoPro.

That bar really makes the saw. Almost too purty to run.

Hit the nail on the head with that one...the filter element setup is strange to say the least. I may try to rig something up that drapes over the filter housing to keep it sitting on the carb a little better...just not much room to work with.
