It was 34 today after snowing about 6" and then raining on it. Soaking wet slush everywhere, temp now dropping fast and everything is freezing solid - heading to 10deg with gusts to 30mph. The stuff was so wet it was hard to move - I waited until it started to firm up and then drove the tractor all around to make tread marks off the industrial pattern tires all around the barn.

Got the big stove running in the basement and the little one just cranking upstairs. Won't be surprised if we lose power as usual, but the place will be cozy and warm. I know it's not cold compared to what many deal with, but it's a miserable night out there.

I'd rather have the 35 below that we have here. Although I miss falling trees covered in frozen rain when it's sunny out.

You guys out east sure have funky weather this winter.

It's been very mild up here since early December. Coldest we've seen is -26 one time.

went from 2 to -3 in the last 10 mins. wind gusting to 34mph. gonna throw in the last of the hickory tonight.

I could not decide if shoveling the path to the barn/driveway was a good idea or not. A lot of the water got channeled into the path and froze - it's a pretty long way and on a slope, so the path became a stream. Now of course it's ice. I'm getting ready to head out with an ash bucket.

Gonna be some accidents out there tonight I bet.

I used most all of that already, though there may be a few pieces left.

I moved quite a bit of wood down to the lower porch yesterday. I could drive it down through the snow in the loader bucket, but then had to walk it down the snow covered stairs in my arms. Probably about 1/2 of a cord stacked by the door next to the stove, so we're good for a little while now. More on the upper porch, but it's a pain carrying it downstairs!

We're feeling this one way up here too right now. I'm just on the cold side of the rain/snow line, supposed to 'warm up' to -12c by 3am, then drop like a rock again. -18c right now & the snow is piling up with a strong NE wind. This has been a crazy past week, ground was bare 8 days ago - three storms later & it sure isn't now.

Nasty.

Just had our first major power drop - glad I charged the generator battery.

That's the crap we had here yesterday through this morning early. Anything that was bare had thick ice on it. I left clearing the drive until today so the ice would be on top but things still didn't clean up too well. Just missed the major snow, only about 2" here, a few miles north got 6", and another 20 minute or so drive north snow was up to a foot in places.

You got the weather the news said we where going to get...warm air pushed all that moister up north. Middle of last week we where forecast to get heavy ice then 7-8" snow and we got nothing but wind.

I hate a winter full of near misses..seems like when that happens Mother Nature saves up and gives us a humdinger.

-6F here and still snowing. ground was bare less than 2 weeks ago. theres 4ft of snow now. at least it's 59F inside

can't get out of the driveway though, which is 1/3 mile long, a flare on one of the hydraulic lines for the hydrostatic steering went on the loader so now i have no way to plow until i go get the line flared somewhere. fun times.

Well, I have to say I was wrong - it isn't miserable. Cold as heck and blowing, yes, but the moon is full and the sky is crystal clear. Once and a while a wispy path of clouds goes whipping by. It's a pretty neat night after all.

I'd rather deal with -30 over copious amounts of wet snow.

Wet snow is a ****** for all of the problems that it causes.

Hang in there.

I got a little more than you Chris. About 8" of it here, with just a tiny sprinkle of frozen rain on top. Then the temp started dropping and the wind picked up.

Finally got back to check in since it started snowing Saturday night here and I finally had to get some sleep yesterday after repairing the plow lights. We've ended up with 15 inches, which in some areas is not a lot at once, but here it is a phenomenon, which means to every mentally challenged individual "lets go for a ride in the car to see if there really is 15" of snow". I hauled 6 different drivers from there vehicles in the ditch to safety in town and everyone of them was busting my chops because I wouldn't just pull them out of the ditch. I just don't understand people , I think I need to move to a beach somewhere and become a sunbathing bartender and forget all of this life stress crap!

:( 74* here and the A/C is crankin' away. Come on guys, send some of that cold down here will ya!

That would be the ideal flat land luge run. Grab a crazy carpet and some pints and have fun with it. I love everything about winter, best season of all, no bugs!
