That is why I have a 48" diameter log on stands outside the shop. Customers can run Walkerized, stock, EHP, whatever they want in the log. (Then they try mine and put their saws on consignment with us.)

How much faster are your saws then Walkers and EHPs?

Rick

I was trying to pick a fight and then this happens.

Btw if I was woodsjunkie and was helping you out, I would not even start it and ship it back with the fuel tank full of .... Use your imagination.

As just a interested reader of all the banter and stuff in this thread , I find myself pulling for Simonizer's saw to kick butt. I always seem to root for the underdog. But it does seem like he is really getting piled on here. Maybe there is a history that I'm unaware of, but I hope his 385 is a real little a-- kicker.:greenchainsaw:

That varies Rick. I keep my dimensions and tolerances very tight so my results are identical. When I make a change, I make one change only and document it. As you know, if you change two things, you start to muddy the waters when you are trying to quantify things. I don't want to slam any one saw builder but I have seen substantial variations in porting work from the same company. I have seen port work that is backwards from what should be done, like the blueprint was inversed. The only saws I have seen in the same ballpark as mine regarding cutting speed were built by Ken Dunn. There was another expert builder named Mike Pro*****co who was very well known in the East for snowmobile racing. I worked with Mike for about 6 months. He was gifted but had alcohol issues. He was a natural builder, no formal training, just a feel for performance that is hard to describe. I am not trying to give you a politician type of response, Eric will have the saw soon and can run it against the other equipment he owns. Ask him how much faster it is.

Simon, Do you think your 385 will be faster than a piped 181 Husky?
We have a few of them.

Thanks buddy. However, I am about as much of an underdog as Lennox Lewis getting in a brawl with Gary Coleman. Cheers, Simon.

Expansion chambers are extremely effective. On a work saw this is not an option. Run them against each other and see.

Hey Simonizer do you know the Mike on Spruce St. Campbell River, BC.

He has a saw shop up there by you..
Mike worked for C&L for awhile a few years ago. He took a 6 month course in small-engine mechanics. I will leave it at that.

Why dont you spell his name out?
I just mentioned his alcoholism and have enough respect for him to keep his last name to myself. I haven't seen him for 7 years, he was brilliant. Zero engineering knowledge, just a natural tuner and excellent tradesman. (And a heck of a nice guy)

I was just curious as I was at one time heavily involved in snowmobile racing. I have never heard of a tuner with a name close to what you posted.
He was involved with the Duhamel's back in the 70's. He is still friends with Miguel. Yvon, Mig's father was a well known sled racer back then.

Simon - Are you up for a friendly race? I will meet you half way..... let say maybe Rotax Roberts place (I think we could talk him into it) and we can video tape the race. 385xp vs. 385xp. Now I am not a Husqy man so you will probably kick my butt. This could be a lot of fun though. Woods port against woods port and new chain off of the real. Race for a bit, shoot the s__t, and when it's all done drink a few beers. So what do you think?

Half-way would be Victoria or Vancouver. Why don't you come up here in the summer with your wife and we can do some halibut and salmon fishing, my treat. Bring your best 385, winner takes the other guys saw. Have you ever been to Vancouver Island?
