Well this morning a customer brought in a smashed PS7900.. Gas Tank, Switch, Tube Handle, Hand (brake) Guard, Muffler, 1 AV mount, 1 Muffler bolt, and a Oil cap. He waited while I gathered the parts and repaired the saw. His repair bill was $225 for Parts and Labor and he also bought a New PS6000 I had leftover now he can get his wood cut today. My question is how many dealers stock Crash parts and will do a repair like this while the Customer waits??

Dayumm thats moving on there. Good job.

Scott, that is great customer service, and great that you stock so many parts! Dealers around here don't even stock carburetor kits. NO JOKE - it's sad. I am 1/2 tempted to open my own dealership. I was thinking about carrying Dolmar and Shindaiwa. Already talked to the regional Shindaiwa distributor and have a good idea of their costs/stocking requirements. Don't know about Dolmar though  What do you guys figure it would take in capitol to get off to a good start?

As for the 7900, are there any plans for a full wrap or 3/4 wrap handle?

Man thats great for the end results.
So far I have found a good Dolmar,Husky and now even a good Stihl dealer all with in 20 miles of me.
Dont know if I could get any of the saws fixed like you just did for him though. WTG.

My Jonsered dealer did the same for me,
One gas tank swaped the switch and AV mounts, one tube handle, Adjusted the carb and away I went 125.00 out the door.
First he asked me if I wanted to use his loaner saw for free. So I can get back to work. NO Bull. I was out the door in a hour.

We do, but only if it's really needed (and that's often very subjective..). For example, a pro crew just busted a critical saw and needs it, and homeownwer that's 50 miles from home.). Often I tell them - go get a cup of coffee - come back in in 30 minutes (most go away for much longer!). Having the customer hover around and talk to me doesn't help, especially if I'm the only one in the store or the phone is ringing off the hook, or... This time of year is easy (ignoring the storm we just had..) as there isn't a big backlog, but in spring it's more difficult.

The most common repair we do on the counter is starter repairs. $15 plus parts, and it's out of he door in 10-15 minutes, and I can do them with the phone in my ear.

The important thing is not to have a "policy" of not doing immediate repairs, but to discuss the real need with the customer.

What had happened to the saw????

Was waiting for that question.. Saw had too much power too much speed and he cut his hinge. Then the tree twisted, and drove the saw into the ground.

"Saw had too much power too much speed and he cut his hinge. Then the tree twisted, and drove the saw into the ground."

So operator error :jawdrop: Did he want it de-tuned slightly:confused:

I thought welders were right below hunters for when it comes to excuses??

I may not speak for all Canadians but our customer service here sucks big time. I have always has customer service in the U.S.A. to die for. Kudos for all of you. I have a Local ATV dealer here that is so bad I get my parts from out of town. It's like I'm a walk in ghost!!!!:censored:

You had to interupt the repair, to wait on customers? What was Steve up to?

We did the same thing for a guy today with a Jonsered 2165, but it wasn't as busted up as your 7900. The guy didn't actually ask us to do it right then, but we said "Come on in the back Todd, cause you don't look like you feel like doing this today" (He's fighting Lyme). He was pretty happy. The only interuption was another guy who came to pick up his saw, but he was more into hanging out in the shop with the rest of us and BS'ing for a while.

Most of our crash parts are used parts from saws that were crashed or blown up beyond repair.
