More left over from the December wind storm. One of my neighbors has big blow-down, and needs to get the stress off the logs so "he" can cut them up, and the stumps "replanted"... No problem!

A mid-sized Western Hemlock root ball... The guy is 5'10"... Unfortunately there is an old growth stump to the left from the 1890's that's going to hang this one up. We'll likely need to pull this one up with a truck/cable.

Here's the otherside - look small, but it's 32 dbh...

Humbolt face cut - no room or escape on the other side. Nice to have full wrap.

As I thought, we needed to pull it more upright because of the hang-up on the old growth stump, then trim off the 8 foot "stump". Needed the length for the cable pull leverage.

36 inch bar... 066..

Big bars and full wrap in action - part 2

Second stump to "replant"... It's cut off with about a 12 foot "stump" for pull leverage". Note the hole.. and no where to stand on the far side. This is where full wraps really come into their own..

That last tree had a bit of a lean to it. (Not Bad)

Do you get any barber chairs out there ?

:ices_rofl: But Andy, you could have done that with a 20" bar!!!
If you wanted to jump over the tree a few times. :hmm3grin2orange:
And get rid of that funny looking handle too! :ices_rofl:

It was also a bit puncky in the middle... Tricky - no real hinge value.

Barber chair - all the time in alder.. spectacular if you're not careful... Side cuts first, then face, then fast back cut... needs to cut faster than the fibre break... Or chain them above the cut.

Side cuts first. Interesting.

So you could get a barber chair just by putting the knock in first ?

Probably wouldn't need longer than 16" because you could bore thru the face to clear the middle. It would be lighter than the 36":D Shootin blanks as usual.

Usually when you first start the back cut. It can just spit vertically, roll off 30 feet up and come down on you. The "side cuts" I do look just like little face cuts. The have to be a right angles to the lean though... More art than science, and there are many out there with more experience than me!
