The yarder crew is back. So is the rain and it was snowing when the trucks arrived this morning. I took some more Bad Quality Videos. One is on the Chainsaw site, the rigging of the guylines are on here. I also took some stills.

Down at the tail tree, the hooktender was giving a How To Rig A Small Tree For A Tailhold lesson. He showed how to use tree plates, and also was giving tips to the young crew members on Twister Technique. I was pestering them with questions, and accidently got some marking paint on the hooktender--my bad.

Part 2

My battery ran out on the first installment, so here's the finish. Instead of pulling the guyline out manually, they used haywire. This is the crew that did all the downhill yarding. Now they get to do some regular, up the hill yarding.

The crew doing the twisting. The hooktender was like a ghost and did not show up in the photos much. I think he is second to the back?

These guys were moving too fast to get good pictures. But here's some more twisting work.

Game of Logging....the very mention of it makes most real Left Coast loggers cringe.

I'ts proponents tend to be almost evangelical in their belief and adherence to GOL procedures. They get all upset if you argue with what they've learned. They tend to hide behind formulas and diagrams and theory rather than using common sense . Kinda like Jehova's Witnesses with chainsaws.

Now that's down right scary!

When I first heard of it, on here, I think, I thought it was a board game like Monopoly.

Well, I'm headed back up to see if all is well. The I S words were being bandied about yesterday. Intermediate Supports.

I've been through GOL and treat it as just another trick. IMO you can never have too many tricks in the bag, they don't all need to get used all the time but it sure it nice to know them all.

This is the tiny plantation tree. I'm guessing 40 years old, and very small.
