For the most part I prefer to leave the brush piled in the woods as it provides homes for critters and adds nutrients so the soil as it decomposes. Clearing out the EAB Ash trees in some areas of my mismanaged woods is creating way more brush than I want to leave piled up.

This is a poor pic of an area I just finished cutting, very high Ash tree concentration. Ended up with several large piles in the woods and 2 more in the field.

When cutting the fencerow trees, its easy to drop them in the field and cut. Pile up the debris with the loader and move on. Getting piles relocated for burning was a problem, I had no way to easily pick up and carry the debris until now....The Bobcat dealer dropped off my new bucket last week.

I started with some small piles in the field.

Carry it to a larger pile for burning.

One more "bite" and that piles history!

Overall the grapple bucket works better than I expected, it's great for moving and stacking logs also.

I'll run out to the woods today and get a couple of pics of the "clean" area.

I posted this picture on another thread, but this is my new brush piling grapple. In this picture, we are just picking up some long, dead limbs, but it will really grab a handful of fresh limbs and brush.

clinchscavalry, nice setup!

Turkeyslayer, ya'll got a nice rig there too!

I did move quite a few logs with mine, heckofa lot better than the old pallet forks. No more having to be in the exact center of the log....just clamp & go.

Heres what that area looks like now, left one critter pile. When I originally stacked it, I piled it on a big 'ol stump.... made it hard to get ahold of much, so I left it. some of the small brush will get taken out with the clearing saw in the spring, hard to tell whats Ash and what isn't with the small stuff. I'll get it after it leaves out.

I put up most of the pile on the right with the grapple.

Nice Ed, just be careful carrying a load with the bucket that high in a Bobcat, they get a little squirley!
Nice work:cheers:

Call me jealous as all hell.

That's about as nice a set up as a guy could want.

Stay safe!
