For the most part I prefer to leave the brush piled in the woods as it provides homes for critters and adds nutrients so the soil as it decomposes. Clearing out the EAB Ash trees in some areas of my mismanaged woods is creating way more brush than I want to leave piled up.
This is a poor pic of an area I just finished cutting, very high Ash tree concentration. Ended up with several large piles in the woods and 2 more in the field.
When cutting the fencerow trees, its easy to drop them in the field and cut. Pile up the debris with the loader and move on. Getting piles relocated for burning was a problem, I had no way to easily pick up and carry the debris until now....The Bobcat dealer dropped off my new bucket last week.
I started with some small piles in the field.
Carry it to a larger pile for burning.
One more "bite" and that piles history!
Overall the grapple bucket works better than I expected, it's great for moving and stacking logs also.
I'll run out to the woods today and get a couple of pics of the "clean" area.
