A friend had a Stihl 230 down here over the weekend. I noticed him pushing like hell to get started through a 16" red oak log. When he was done I picked up the saw and looked at the dogs.... they don't come low enough to engage the log until you are about 4 or 5 inches into the cut. Then you can use them to advantage.
What the hell is wrong with this design?!!.... You'd think the lowest dog would engage the log before starting the cut. Is there an aftermarket dog that goes lower and actually works??
