Have you looked at the piston to see if there is any damage? Since the
saw is new, you might want to look and get the dealer [or another] to
document it.
 
Running lean can cause major cylinder and component wear due to high temps and low oil supply, especially during the break in period. Take the spark plug out and have a very good look at the cylinder and piston. If there is any question I would take it right back and try to get a new one, thats what warranties are for. You payed a lot of bills for that piece of equipment, there is no need to compromise the longevity due to a mistake made by them.
