Just bought it and was excited until it kept stalling on me .Took it back to the dealer twice .He said carb adjustments off and your gas was too high octane now u are all set.Okay still does it with his gas and im gettin mad.over 600 bucks in it ,promised any problems taken care of and my saw runs worse every time i get it back.new dealer or what?

It seems like your dealer doesn't want to help. Do like lake said and have the dealer fix it or visit a shop with a good tech.:chainsaw:

361

HE claims I should run 87 in it but I ran at laest 89 he says it wont burn at an idle???So with his 87 i run it and its the same stalling deal.and the carb seemed way off .He says this is normal behavoir for a saw breaking in.I know thats not true cause I have other saws with no issuses.i just neede to find one who can fix it.Oh yea this saw does shut off perfecly everytime that one good thing about the saw

Tell your dealer to read the manual and call Stihl. The MINIMUM octane for the 361 is 89... Out here we run them at 92 all the time...

87 octane, your dealer is full of BS, tell him I said so and call me too if he doesn't like it. The man is telling you 89 won't burn at idle, how does it burn above idle, he's a fruitcake for sure. No doult he's done set your carb up poor as well.

That saw should have come with a little Stihl screwdriver. If I were you I would merely take it and adjust the high and low all the way out counter clockwise. The caps on the adjustment screws will only let you turn them so far back, maybe 3/4 turn at most. I'm betting your dealer has them both turned all the way in. Set em all the way out and then turn your low in one 1/4turn fire up the saw and then adjust your idle screw to where it idles without cutting off. These settings I just gave you I do most all the time on 361's and seem to hit on the money about everytime. While your at it skip 89octane and get the highest you can find. Then go tell that knumbskull dealer he needs to find another job!!!

yea he should not have put that 87 in it.or said to get rid of 89 init.though this is not the problem ,they better have it right soon causethey are totally denying stuff rigt frrom the owner manuel.Ill bet there are some people that could get upset if they knew about this kind of stuf

How old is this man that is working on your saw??

Do you have your Manual????

Take the Manual and show him in the Manual It says "Use Premium Branded unleaded gasoline with a Minimum octane rating of 89 RON" I run 93 in my stock saws and sunoco 114 purple in my hotrods,,, No trouble!!!

then it has a blurb warning about using leaded fuel in models with catylitic converters,,,

then goes on to warn against fuels with lower octane may cause preignition (causing "pinging") which is accompanied by an increase in operating temperature,, which in turn increases the risk of piston seizure and damage to the engine,,,,

If he doesnt get right then there is a place on the Stihl website where you need to report him,,,

is it possible you flooded it a few times and have gas fouled the plug???? in three years I've had to work on two,,, one had a combined and exact same problem with the operator choking the saw too much when trying to start and using regular 87 octane fuel,,,,,, I dumped the fuel put a new plug in it and it cranked on the second pull now it smoked like the dickens until all the old gas fouling was scavenged out of the crankcase and muffler,,,

The other had a busted fuel line between the tank and the bottom of the carb/airfilter housing!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont get it about this dude you describe as A dealer????? :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:He cant be a tech,,,, they are trained better than that Ehhh Thall?????

You should have bought a Husky - HAHAHA, couldn't help myself.

Now, I will agree with everyone else that has posted. Your dealer is a jackass, and your carb is likely set up wrong.

NO men working at Lowe's in my neck of da woods - just a bunch of boys. HAHAHA.

If you would be so kind to send me one of those 361 saws, I would sure be happy to find run it and find out what all the hype is about! I'd even pay the stamp!

That is plainly the dumbest excuse Ive ever heard,,, Hands down!!!!:ices_rofl: :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl:

I got the ball bat and rope ready so come on by and pick me up, we needs to keep our fine outstanding reputation in tack, lets go give that dealer a whopping and a drag behind the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thats mighty white of ya,LOLOL Fact is I've yet to touch one with any sort of running problem. Did have one in which the guy lost his sprocket clip but thats been it. I've had great luck with those 361's. Seems to be the most trouble free saw I've sold. Durn shame what that dealer is doing to that man with his, that stuff makes us all look bad..

It's got me P.O'ed pretty bad,,,,,

But I wouldnt go that far,,,, Yet,,, but he either need's a "TUNE UP" on his service policy,,,, or we are not getting the entire story,,,, It's just not adding up and it's not the new math!!!!!! sounds like a new salesmans response, not a certified Tech/service manager,,,,,

and if I was in 67chevelle's ride I would be polite,,, but I wouldnt stop until my NEW saw was a purring like a new kitten at Idle and snarling like an ole Tom cat when a cuttin.....:blob2: :blob2: :blob2:
