I sold one last month for $200 with a new 20” bar & chain. They’re a weird saw with half a pastic & half magnesium case. I prefer a 16-18” bar on them. Just my 2 cents.

So I stopped by an ACE hardware store here in Michigan today to check out their Stihl saws in stock. They had the MS271 for $399 I believe. Maybe $390.
I am asking this in all seriousness with no ill-intent.
How is the local guy selling his 7 year old Stihl 270 for $400 when you can get a new MS271 for the same price? What am I missing here?
Just tying to learn a bit here on Stihl pricing and value.

I wish I'd have took a picture of the 170 that I saw in a fancy pawn shop with a $299 sticker on it.
Not a big fan of the 270, 280 or any of the saws that Stihl is changing to. I'd rather have an older Stihl like an 026 or even an 029 for less money than the 270...
026/260 hands down better & can find cheap.
