MS271 - Siphoning Fuel?

I see it at least once a week. More often blowers than saws. Who knows why.
I can get them running and not charge anything. But, you can expect them to come right back.
Might as well replace the carb.
Stihl does not warranty carburetors being the main problem.

So I left it set for a few days, and same thing although nowhere near as bad. I thought I might get lucky that it was a one time quirk. This time it was just flooded and wouldn't start, whereas before it was hydroloc'd.

Called the local dealer and dropped it off last week, they just called an said they put a carburetor on it and to come pick it up. Hopefully that is the end of the issue.

What's the excuse for that? Can't have a bad part in a carb?

Some of the other guys on here say that Stihl does warranty the carb. So ???
Usually I see it on stuff that is old and assume the needle is just worn or the spring has lost it's tension.

So did you try the vent?

I had exactly the same on a farmers saw, it was running fine, left a couple of days then when he pressed in the decomp and went to start fuel came shooting out. I worked out it was in a sunny place for only a few hours and that was enough for the 3/4 full tank to got enough pressure to cause the problem. Never seen it on a saw before or since, we live and learn.
