I hope I qualify for the new guy as I just joined? Anyway, my name is Greg and I live in Auburn, WA. I picked up a used, (maybe 1 tank of gas, chain had never been sharpened - $200 :) )MS310 over Christmas and have read alot of the archives over the past month or so. I had a Poulan Pro 330 before this, cut about 20 cord and the clutch failed. Took a 1.5 months to get parts, hence the Stihl purchase. I read that these saws are intended to run lean and can over rev with no load. Something I should worry about? If that's the case, I'm interested in opening up the muff on the 310 and changing the jetting. From what I've read, the mixture needles have to have the limiters on them to keep from falling out. Is there a fix for this? Something like springs like the older saws? Looking for pointers from the group.

Thanks guys, great group :blob2:

A word of caution. Before you open up your muffler you should know in Washington and Oregon there is no where in the woods or offroad that a non spark arrestor muffler is legal to operate on a 2 stroke. Not only do the green police hand out hefty fines for such modifications but the the Northwest timber industry in general does not care for it. An abnormally loud saw will draw attention even in the woods.

Thanks Premix. I'm aware of that as I have had many Honda CR's. The trick is to open up the muffler but not make it noisier. :)
