Hello,

I do not want to open up a can of worms or get into a big argument about oils,

I know that there are a lot of posts already on oil

My question is i know that mobile1 2t is phased out in the USA, but i can still get a case of old stock for like 125.

Do you think the

Castrol Power RS TTS

is just as good

i also herd that Pennzoil is also good

the saw is almost new and has a 2 year warranty and the last i know amsoil did not have the certifications.....

any idea on if those oils are good. right now im using the stihl hp ultra...

sorry to post another oil thread..... but i did not find one with the castrol oil

Personally I like maxima k2 or klotz original or R50 for the money. You can get 2 gallons of either for the same price or less than the mobil 2T.

If the saw is almost brand new and you still have a 2 year warranty, why not keep using the Stihl Ultra oil. Once you switch to a different oil during the warranty time, the warranty goes null invoid.

I'm running Belray H1R, got it off ebay for 20 maybe a qrt with ship. IDK about synthetics, nice in car but ever think in 2 stroke it's waste of money as 2 strokes always have steady supply of fresh oil. For car I like extended change intervals and think it's worth the extra ten dollars or so for 5 qrts vs standard. On 2 strokes it can add up. I use to run Pennzoil Airooled, must be aircooled not mulit purpose even though I'm sure that's good. That's hard to find now, prob because more people run synthetic hoping it's better while stores make more money off us. No worries, thanks for thread.

How do they know? Also, by law if a warranty lists using a certain product to meet warranty they have to provide that product to customer. The actual warranty is if you buy a six pack with saw and they're hoping you keep running their brand. Pretty sure though you don't have to stick to it and I doubt they'd know fore sure anyway on a claim.

I was told that they can tell when they take a saw apart for warranty work, do to the color of the oil. Not trying to start a oil war but that's what I have been told by different Stihl dealers.

I guess i wouldn't ever have a Stihl warranty then because Ultra gives me a pounding headache.

There's no requirement in the Stihl CS Owners manuals to use Stihl Oil. All the manual says if other oils are used they should bet at 25:1

How about we leave the war oils for the "Chainsaw forum"

Yea. the stihl oil smells really bad, the orange bottle is not but but the ultra smells like burning plastic. at first i thought something was wrong so i put it in my echo blower and it had the same crappy smell....

i figure i will run at 32:1 like that seems what a lot of people here are running...

My last two saws came with that warranty, and I was told as long as you are using the stihl ultra oil you wont have to worry about a warranty claim. I just run it. Besides that's an expensive saw and a nice one .

yea i think they can tell from the color of the fuel..... maybe i should stick with stihl till the 2 years expire
stihl oil too expensive. Richen carb if you run 32:1, prob have to pull limiters to do so. Doubt you'd need claim, plus if it's something like FOD in engine, they'd prob fault user for dirty air filter etc. Improper mix, abuse, so on. Take good care and should last. Read the warranty fine print, shouldn't mandate their oil, don't believe that's legal. Any oil meeting the standards they list. If you have to take it in drain tank and purge fuel lines. Tell any dealer who refuses you that you won't be back again for business.
