I gave up on it. I have enough other saws to run. That would make it harder
Don't blame you.I gave up on it. I have enough other saws to run.
A minute.Define "warm up" fellas. What do you feel is enough? When I fire my bike, usually I wait to go until the fins are fairly warm to my bare hand.
I dont know how the pull start cover on there can hold up to all that. I had trouble with mine a few times stock at 180 lbs.I broke the starter spring today on a non-decomp, base gasket delete 288.
The hardest kicker is a 125. It will bite you hard if you f0rget to reset the decomp after every pull.
A modded 084 will bite you good too!
I was at a local Husky dealer today. He had a used 038 mag in absolutely beautiful condition. I pulled it over without starting it. It was very stout. Don't know if it would bite but it surely felt like it could.
I had one with 230 lbs when someone tested it. My cheap tester started hissing at 205 so I quit. The last (bf this one) NDBGD 288 I did had over 190psi after a few pulls. I quite bc it was too hard to hold the saw still and keep the gauge from flying around. I suspect it was well north of 200. Squish on this one is .022" and feels even stouter. You have to hold onto it when it idles on the bench or it would jump off in just a second...wicked exhaust note!!!
Both of mine had .025" squish gap with the base gasket.A compression release and a better oiler are the only things I would change.
Since I got the cylinder off do I leave the base gasket off or not? What do yall think?
Good Luck with it, I do like them saws!!!
On the 044, did U put a dp muff cover on it and HD-2 filter? Those are the first steps I would do, they make a nice difference. Just make sure U make the tune a tad richer.
