Some peolpe consider the conferate flag as a symbol of their southern heritage, and they are proud of it. The problem is, to most people it's a symbol of racism and slavery, even the KKK has adopted it as their flag.

or you could have just said... "i liked the Dukes of Hazzard TV show when i was a kid."

A real tree man would not drive a 1/2 ton? Maas, you must be a vehicle bigot. I drive a 1990 Nissan Quest minvan most days, and it works fine, thank you very much.

As for waving the rebel flag, I see a lot of that here in NC. Some i call friend; they can't help that the KKK waves it too. Heck, GW Bush and other idiots wave the american flag, but that does not make me ashamed of it. Not very much, anyway, most days.

12ed, if your purpose in starting this thread was to show what you're showing to the public, I say good on you for putting it out there. If you sell tree care as much as tree removal, and have the skills to do it, more power yet to you.

and as for you arboriste's who don't know what that shiny thing is on his 1/2 ton, it's a newfangled gadget called a l-a-d-d-e-r, the fastest way up most trees.

You're welcome. :blob2:

My half ton chevy get's loaded to the gills with chips and logs every day, steep hills to climb. I don't fly the flag, that's begging to get jacked. Most rascists can't even spell KKK.

And you sir, cannot even spell racist. And sir, you are no "rebel" or you would be flying your rebel flag with pride. And 1/2 tons can be used but an old beater 3/4 ton with a full floating rear axle would be better for you, thats what I drive. Cheers, Jim.

I'm a spikeless residential climber. About fifty of my competitors use spikes for pruning. That makes me a rebel. I'm not so sure 3/4 ton would be better on nicer yards and drain lines, you could be right though.

Crikey, there's safety in numbers and they're popping up like there's no tomorrow.

I can just see em all in Treeseer's minivan, flags a flying, gun rack, ladders on the roof and a swish new paint job ... it's the Partdidge family.

Pssst, I heard dudes who cant climb use ladders.:greenchainsaw:

Can't climb? How do we get the job done?
That's the word, reb. Don't let that elitist Ekka get away with no nonsense.
I like the van idea. don't drink the kool-aid.
Heeeey maaaan, the kool-aid's awesome, dude!:blob6:

i think laddering up to the scaffolding of a tree; especially if you are going straight up only or within 25' of ladder is a fair strategy; to simple to negate. i've leaned away from ladders etc.; but seeing as you might need one for groundie roof access anytime; have cussed mys-elf for not having one a few times. Then, once it is there; might as well use it intelligently.

i wish those that insist on spiking, would use ladder for 1st 25-35'; then observe how much of the Natural scaffolding of the tree would allow them not to spike. This would be better for the tree health, better visual quality for the customer; and perhaps wean more folks off of spikes; give them confidence to start not wearing them on some jobs, feel lighter on their feets etc.
