i think laddering up to the scaffolding of a tree; especially if you are going straight up only or within 25' of ladder is a fair strategy; to simple to negate. i've leaned away from ladders etc.; but seeing as you might need one for groundie roof access anytime; have cussed mys-elf for not having one a few times. Then, once it is there; might as well use it intelligently.

i wish those that insist on spiking, would use ladder for 1st 25-35'; then observe how much of the Natural scaffolding of the tree would allow them not to spike. This would be better for the tree health, better visual quality for the customer; and perhaps wean more folks off of spikes; give them confidence to start not wearing them on some jobs, feel lighter on their feets etc.
I would love to pack a big extention ladder through the logging slash, 50-1500' from the truck, along with my back pack, saw, etc, sign me up.

i almost wrote before that just because i was making a comment on spiking; i wasn't trying to single anyone out; to point at them exclusively; or to make them feel like any spiking comment from anyone was maid to azz-sault them..........

And thanx; i was referring to urban situations with roofs etc.

But, if there were enough trees; and they started 50' from truck; and enough effort and damage could be saved; i would think that a ladder could be considered equitable. Alos easily carried by 2 men; sometimes with ropes etc. laying across them as to not even make an extra trip out of it. i've also seen ladders used for ice rescue; and have layed one across marshy ground for access a few times; it is a good tool IMLHO. i do not call for every decision for ladder to be black; nor white / to neither extreme. But each situation weighed as to it's proper gradient of grey; with an open mind.

Stars and Bars=Losing side of the Civil war.

Hardcore must mean something completely different in Fla. than it does in Boston

But of course it is, it would be an incomplete picture otherwise.

Hey Spydie, I'm just poking fun at the ladder toting arbos, you always get a good bite.

I don't know whether to love this guy or hate him. Enough bashing for know I'll answer the question seriously.

12edneck, if you are in business it would be best to not advertise anything other than your business. Political bumper stickers, Jesus fish, Civil War flags, etc., will only limit you when it comes to potential customers.(in these politically correct times its real easy to offend unintentionally) I think this thread shows that everya$$hole has something to say, and you handed out the ammo by wearing your heart on your sleeve (not always a bad thing)

The masses (or at least the ma$$hole) has spoken!!
