After reading the thread titled Please Boycott Dolamr OPE, I thought it would be fun to name your favorite local dealer and why they are your favorite. Mine is Fleming County Outdoor Power Equipment. Its a locally owned and operated shop that deals in Stihl power equipment and other named mowers and such. He is always eager to help with service on all of my saws regardless of brand, age etc... He is a 9 to 5er but stays open till noon on Saturday for us working folks. He has Stihls of most sizes available to try out if you choose to do so before buying. An all around knowledgeable sales and service shop.

Polley's Farm supply in Lynn, IN. Same guy has run it for 25 years plus. 2 man show and they excell in service and seem to do very well for the size of the nearby towns.

I did PM Darin to see if it was OK to start this thread and he said the dealer name and why you like them is alright. No addresses were needed. No phone numbers either.

Well then...

Superior Saw in Mason/Holt, MI.

Hes an honest guy, knows his saws, and is fair on the prices of what he sells. He gets parts quick if he doesnt have them on the shelf, and if he knows you and you are in a bind he will help you get straight if he can. He even let me use his tools and bench to take a saw apart so I could swap coils.

I've been dealing with Bullock's Forest & Garden in my area for a few years now. Honest guy, very quick in service. He knows I only get to cut on the weekends, so my saw is always ready saturday morning. Of course, he has all week to work on it, and I make sure to tell him I won't be in to get it til saturday, just in case he needs to help someone else out quicker.

He's a small town shop, and a Dolmar dealer. With the way Dolmar is working these guys over, I'm questioning whether to buy one or not.

Since it is OK with Darin...

Superior Saw in Mason is without a doubt the best saw shop I have encountered. A number of mid-Michigan AS guys get their saw stuff from there - caseyforrest, reddog, kleek, carvinmark (despite the fact he's over 2 hours away). They know saws, have a huge stock of parts for current and discontinued models, sell the full line of Stihl products and have most of it there, on the salesfloor. Additionally, they sell quality used saws to favored customers. They also sell a full compliment of arborist gear, wood splitters, and woodstoves. And they have very fast turn-around on service.

Not sure what else you could ask for, really.

the best dealer around is Carl, west Protsmouth, ohio. DOLMAR dealer. quite a few guys here on this site have bought saws from him.

Locally, I've bought the most Stihl and Husky saws and stuff from Madsens. I spend a fair bit of money at Baileys, though, because it saves me so much time by not having to drive somewhere.

But there is no substitute for going in and seeing stuff in person before buying.

Close to me I have not yet found a Stihl or Husky dealer that I like dealing with.

I just thought that it would be cool to give our favorite dealers a little pat on the back so to speak after reading about the struggles that some of them go through trying to build a reputable business.

Wood's Logging

Wood's Logging in Longview, Washington. Even though they deal in Husqvarna I get accessories from them. They usually give a discount to me as the mill where I work buys lots of cable from them and all I have to do is mention that I'm one of the ones helping tear it up. They seem to be very professional and they sell all types of safety supplies.

Sladek's in Independence, MO. They are my "new" dealer and I'm pleased as punch with them. Knowledgable, fair, and honest, plus they keep a good inventory of saws, parts, and accessories.

My favorite saw shop is R. Browns supply, stihl and husky dealer.

Elliott Saw Works in Ferndale, Michigan.

Good guys, been in bidness 27 years in same shop. Jonsered dealer, sold me on the brand.

As their name implies, they basically deal only in saws and sharpening. As a sharpening service, they are top-notch, too. And not just chains...if it's metal, they can sharpen it, and they do it well. Lots of woodworkers in the area come in with armfuls to get worked on. They can true a blade, balance it, tension/de-tension...you name it.

As to repair service, if you look behind the counter, you'll see lots of brands waiting to be worked on, particularly Husky. There's a fairly large Husky dealer closeby who's got a lousy reputation, and my guess is that he picks up plenty of that guy's customers. Walls full of parts, too.

Lets see: There is the local Jonsered dealer who ripped me off several times so I don't go back. Then there is the local Husky dealer who also ripped me off a couple of times so I don't go back either.

I have never had anything fixed at the local Stihlership so I guess they are my favorite since I haven't been hosed there yet.

Actually the only saw shop I trust is an Amish guy who sells Dolmars and Jonsereds unfortunately he is 100 miles away. His shop is "Millers Engines" located in the middle of nowhere Kentucky. You will no your close when you see all the horse crap on the road.

Stop in if you get by there.
