Mid-Michigan

There is a little lawn and garden shop in central lower michigan run by an awesome guy that been in the businesss forever.
He even helped me out on christmas eve and christmas day when I need a part.
Plus he stocks lots of NOS Homelite stuff.
Can't beat that!!

Upstate NY

For where I currently reside I use Parkside Supply in Wilmington, NY. Great little shop, basically a two man operation. Fair, honest and take care of their customers. Stihl, Husky & Echo dealer, also logging supplies and lawn & garden stuff.

When I used to live & work in Central NY I used primarily House Trucking in Central Square, NY. Another fine, well established family run business. Serviced pretty much any/every tree care, utility company & logger in the area. As I recall (from 10 yrs ago) dealer for Stihl, Husky & Jreds, maybe more can't recall exactly. Would work on anything for good customers in the great shop, their techs were awsome at what they did. Pulled my bacon out of the fire more than once. Had HUGE supply of old parts, if you needed something for an old, out dated saw no problem. Go search through the apple crates and you'll probably find what you needed. Because they serviced primarily professionals they were excellent at getting you back to work with quality tools to make chips/money. They've been in the business a long time, used to love looking at some of the old hardware lying around in addition to the shiny new stuff.

One more shout out to Gary's Small Engine in Clay, NY. Great guy, was just expanding into Stihls as I left CNY, but knowing his work ethic and how he supplied/serviced his other product lines I'm sure his shop is top notch today.

Buckeye Power Sales - 2 locations in the greater Columbus, Ohio area. Stihl and Echo. They'll deal a bit if you are a pro or regular customer. Great service guy at the Blacklick store. They are a big outfit, so no one is real "chatty", but everyone is friendly and helpful.

This the place with the "Stihl" sign visible from eastbound I70 a few miles inside of I270? I'd thought about stopping in for a look-see on my way to Children's, but had more pressing things on my agenda.

My favorite is Troyer's Engine Shop, Belle Center, OH.

Leo's small engines and welding up here in Vermont. They sell everything husky and stihl, great help!

Port Angeles Power Equipment. Huge Stihl dealer, but does a good amount of the Husky work for these parts too. Excellent tech guys in the back, and the lovely ladies that work the front counter know saws too. They aren't just pretty faces. They've (the shop in it's entirety) has never let me down.

Im fortunate to have some great shops within an hours drive.Steves in nearby Scituate is great,And Little beaver brook in nearby Conn.Has his act together for sure.

Shasta Valley Chainsaw in Yreka ,CA - Madsens. Have accounts at both.
Going into Madsen's was like a treat though. Went up there from Dean's (WHS).

In Cincinnati I would have to say Dewar Equipment Company. Don Dewar Jr. is a Stihl dealer who has has sold and worked on small engines all his life. His shop is in a building that used to be a dance hall back in the forties and has a really thick solid wood floor. His dad started the business years ago and they also have a hobby shop in front. Once you are able to engage Don in a conversation about saws, mowers, blowers, etc. you will have his undivided attention. Doesn't matter how much the phone is ringing or who else is standing around. You are THE customer. Off course, the draw back is if you are waiting to talk to him. You might just have to wait. A real down-to-earth guy. His sisters, mom, and Don Sr. are usually there also.

Proudfoot Electric, our local Husky dealer. Gene & Elwin are out in the country, a couple miles from town. They have the "traditional" small cluttered up building with the family dog that always comes out to greet you. Elwin started the business 40+ years ago, doing electric motor repair & gradually moved into lawn mowers and chainsaws. Elwin is in his 70's now and still spends all day in the shop. Gene, his son, does all the repair work.
Stop in, get your parts, shoot the breeze, drink a beer. Maybe buy a new saw.

Good friendly folks, good service & good products.

Certified Lawn & Power in Hampton. They sell Stihl saws and various mower brands. They were very helpful when I was trying to get my mower running. Bet they would be really great if I actually bought some equipment there!:D

Duluth Saw in Duluth MN. There are a few other dealers for Stihl in the area but 1 is a Gander Mt, little to no service, the other is a Lawn and Garden shop and they are so busy with the lawn service equip and such that saw service is kinda slim. Duluth Saw is a small hole in the wall shop but the guys there really know there stuff and represent Stihl well IMO.

Suburban Lawn & Equipment has a couple of shops in my area, one just 5 mins away. They sell Stihl and Echo and will service other brands as well.

I bought a White 10hp/30" 2 stage snow blower from them 10 years ago, and the things still runs like a champ, although it feels alot heavier now. :)

I had never tried to negotiate prices with them, but had great success when buying the 361. Now I know they are happy to cut me a little break if I ask.

lake--makes you wonder about some of the younger generation--sheesh--

The "younger generation" Sam's son belongs to could be the Baby Boomers. Sam was not a young feller. (I once wrote a check for some parts, and my address was still for Packwood, he looked at it and said to me "Ah, Packwood, I drove log truck there for a few years in the 40's") I have no idea, but his son most likely has his own career, and could be thinking of retirement soon. Sorry, I just hate "kids these days" talk. (mostly annoys me in this case because it is misplaced)

Best Dolmar in N.E. Illinois (Although just starting!)

I live in the N.E. corner of Illinois. I have a good buddy that has a fairly large OPE store/repair center, about a half million in sales a year. He carries many lines but, the only saws he carries are Echo since he has such success with the rest of the line. Mostly because of numerous landscape businesses in our area. We have many tree service operations also, especially along Lake Michigan. However, they of coarse use the local Stihl and Husqvarna dealers. I have him convinced to take on Dolmar since the other support in this area well, stinks! Even if he wasn't a friend I'd still have to say a more fair, honest and hard working business owner would be hard to find in this neck of the woods. I would gladly post his store name and town. I'm sure anyone interested in Dolmar, in the N.E. corner of Illinois just west of the lake and just south of the Wisconsin border couldn't be happier after dealing with him, especially the pro's. If your interested please try Greg's Lawn Mower & Small Engine Repair/Lake Bluff,IL and ask for Ryan.
Thanks, Jay.

Best saw shop

I'll second ADKRanger. I live less than 10 miles from House Trucking in Central, NY. There is a reason why guys drive 90 minutes to get there when they passed a dozen saw shops on the way.
I literally met an old timer who came down from the Canadian border just to get a saw tuned up. Huge inventory of old parts. I should take a pic of there old signs with the saw brands. Has to be over a dozen.

Pattons Power Equipment in Springfield Ohio.

Full line Husky servicing dealer, and also deals in arborist gear.

Husband and wife who are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to deal with.

Lawnmowers Etc. in West Milton. He has old Homelite parts and has been in business since like 56 or 57.
