Went up a young double stem tulip poplar (Tulipifera) this evening just for fun. Noticed this hollow. My TIP was approximately 15’ above. Pretty straight up- no angles past this decay. I felt safe. Lots of sap wood bolstering the stem. Wasn’t cutting in the tree. I get that it’s difficult to get feelings through a photo. Would have this sent alarm bells off on anyone?
