So, I've been looking for a new saw and have been reading all the comments I can on this site. You've convinced me that I needed an MS 361 to complement my current 17 or so year old 021. So, I went shopping. Man were those things expensive.

I have been looking for a good, but barely used one and had been scoping EBAY and Craigslist for a bit, when what to my wandering eyes should appear? A "Brand New" used MS 361 on Craigslist and only about an hour from where I live. The best part? the price was about 175.00 -200.00 less than new. So, question to any, did I get a good deal on a "Used" saw? 425.00? The guy I got it from gave me the kiddie chain, which I did install, but went by the dealer today and got some RSC, yellow for it.

By the way, great site for discussing these topics and you guys do a great job... I'm a newbie, but have been around chainsaws since I was little. My dad would let me hold it, then he'd get to use it, then I was pointed to the ax to chop it... As I got older, he did let me use it some and did buy me my first saw, that 021 that I occasionally use and you'll see in my pics. I just recently moved into a new neighborhood and I think they left all the trees they could on my lot. Probably to save costs...

I just hope when I put the oil and gas in it actually fires. That would be a bummer. It sure looks good, but it don't run... I know most of you will say right off the bat, why did you buy a used saw and not fire it up? Call it a leap of faith... What can go wrong with a new saw, right? Opening the can of worms... I'll shut up now, but please let me know if I got a decent deal on a used saw, assuming it actually fires. Thanks.

(Bummer, I can only attach 5 pics. Hmmm. Got a bunch more... My wife thought I was crazy taking all these pics. I'm just excited I guess and it's finally raining outside, so I'll have to wait.:( We really need the rain, so no biggie. I guess I'll try to post the other pics in additional posts.)

It looks great and you did good on the price. If you ever have any questions or need help with your 361 there are plenty of people on here willing to help.

Ever flip the bar on your 021?

Actually, not until recently, but I checked the bar, and it looks the same on both sides from what I can tell. I'm usually not one to read the manual. Live and learn, but I probably didn't use it enough to kill it that bad on one side. At least it doesn't look like it. I turned it over for the pic to make it look better. :)

Nice Find

Hey, I'm in the Raleigh area as well. That is a great deal on that saw. Hate I didn't see it or I would have 2 now. Like I really need another one. I bought one from Clays in Raleigh about 6 months ago. They are good to deal with if you ever need service or accessories. You will be very pleased with the performance of the 361. It rocks. :rockn: Congrats on a nice catch.

I have a buddy that took the bolt caps out of the muffler of his MS361 and swore to me he gained hp and chainspeed... and it was "louder"... I told him he was an idiot... LOL:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

When I showed him what they really were... he was quite embarrassed...
