Speaking of warranty. I can't find anywhere that mentions if the warranty of a Stihl transfers to another owner. I think I might have a month or two left if it does. The seller said he bought it in August or September 06. Stihl 1 year warranty, right? Anyone know about the registration process and subsequent warranty on a Stihl?

Stay tuned. I just went into Chehalis and bought a new MS440. They are on sale at a nice price since they are being replaced by the 441. I'll read up on the warranty. The shop also engraved my name on the saw, and since it was Friday the 13th, they put that on it too. Got a hat with it. What a deal!

Ugh. I have to wear the reading glasses for the warranty and I can't see the screen so well.

4. Persons Covered by this Warranty

Paragraph B states: Persons to whom the ownership of the product is transferred during the term of the applicable warranty period then remaining
as described in paragraphs blah blah I can't stand reading glasses any longer.
What those paragraphs say is that the 361 is warrantied for a year unless you use it professionally, then it is 3 months. And that is on an official Stihl Warranty Certificate. Dang, the 440 is listed for a mere 3 months! Oh well, they started it up so I know it runs. Have fun.

Well, no more doubt. I put a little gas in and a little oil in. Still don't know how they mix together in two seperate chambers.

After about the eighth or ninth pull, I heard that familiar choke rumble. Then I switched to fast idle and it cranked right up. Ran like a champ for a few minutes, then I cut it off. Refired immediately. OMG! I didn't even rev it up much, but could feel the power. :lifter:

Had this saw been ran before? Did it have gas and oil in it before?

I do not think so. I know when they are sold, the dealer usually does all that. This saw didn't appear to have any oil residue or gas residue in it as far as I could tell. If it did originally, he did a great job draining and cleaning it.

Thanks Slow. I knew it had a 1 year, but didn't know if it transfered. I guess I just need to take the serial number into the dealer and see what he says about when it was registered. Thanks again.

Don't ask don't tell. Asbestos glove and never mind the warranty............

But hopefully it is legit and in that case rock on.

Now that is funny :hmm3grin2orange: .

I have a stock 361 that I bought used that was only used for a month and a half that came with a muffler mod already. Its not pretty but it sure runs good stock opened up, compared to unmodded ones.
I guess since the 2 muffler bolt caps are off and it has the 1 stock port and 3 holes in the front like this pic of a 7900 I seen at a gtg. I guess I could call it a 6 porter. :biggrinbounce2:
Hmmmm wonder who does their muffler mods this way ;) .

That's one nice looking saw.;)

The chain did need some help, I just ordered a dozen Pferd square chisel files from Baileys, all I need to do now is learn how to use them.
