My second build thread. I put a 272 into a 2145!

It's a crying shame, when I see an interesting thread go to read it and its thrown off topic by some diarrhea of the keyboard dip-**** know it all. Nowhere did the op say he was building this saw to race. The saw was build because he could. I frankly do not care if your blender could beat it. The saw runs he was nice enough to share it with everyone else. Where is the ignore feature at? OP please carry on.
Wish I could hit the like button more than once....

That was my point....if you don't have the case volume to feed the cylinder you increasing the displacement is a waste of time.

sigh

Whoopee doo. He used $50 worth of parts and materials and enough machine work and time to buy a brand new saw and he wasted his time? Do ya reckon?
I spent whole minutes replying to this crap, now that's a waste of time.
Why does this annoy you? How can it possibly effect you? How can you not look at this and pat the guy on the shoulder for achieving something so inherently pointless and funny? He didn't want to build a race saw, didn't want to build a work saw, he just did it because he could. Why would anyone take this seriously, or act like it matters?

It won' t hold up as a work saw due to the case....lol

I like the humor and I have wasted far more time doing far more pointless things but I was just trying to figure out what possible use the thing could be..lol

So you are saying this saw runs l I ke a 272?

I will send you a proper stock 268 xp...do a comparison vid

Well I should just let this die but I just have to say this. I own a near mint stock 268XP and I have run this new creation that Mike did.

That said, what little I did run Mikes and the 14" wood I cut with it, I don't think my 268xp could out run it for what little that's worth. I''m not sure what would happen if the bars were longer and the wood was bigger.

I honestly think a 268 is a bit overrated around here, especially with over a 20" bar on them. 100_1326 (Custom).JPG

There were always cylinder variations but most of the issues were simple casting flash and wrong miscut base gaskets.

Also wrong pistons in wrong cylinders on some

'Feeding' the cylinder is not a dependant upon case volume, it is more dependant on 'swept area' - the area between transfer closing and TDC. Increasing the displacement increases 'swept area'. Decreasing the case volume relative to swept area increases crankcase compression. If the crankcase compression is too high relative to the time/area of the transfer ports, the point of peak deliver ratio will likely be higher than desired. That can be adjusted by milling the base of the cylinder and lowering the transfers a bit.

I'm done with this fool, where is the ignore button?

Oh really?

So you can just block off the case completely which is pretty much what he has done and it can be cured just w1ith port timing?
