So my anniversary was a week ago on the 20th and she suprised me with a Husky 338xpt that I was drooling over at the rental place when I was renting tools to finish up my barn.
So i got it home and put fresh gas and oil in it and fired it up. And then reality set in. The oiler does not work, and after a lot of reading i see its a common problem, its a little boggy at idle, but i'm sure with a little tuning i can get that straightened out. I burned the crap out of my hand when limbing some small trees in the back (Thats when i realized the oiler wasnt working).
It needs some work, and I'm thinking that I'm gonna take it back and have them do the work since i just bought it. It's used but in very good shape. Does anyone make a steel oiler gear for that SOB yet? or is there a better option? Then i'm gonna muffler mod it and set it aside.
Then, yesterday while i was looking at Craigslist for different stuff and always looking for deals, i spotted a Husky 394xp parts saw for $125. I Instantly emailed the guy at 10pm and told him i'd come out this afternoon and pick it up. The guy has his own tree business and lots of saws, said he was cutting down a 6 foot oak and all of a sudden it revved up like it was running lean. He shut the saw off and threw it across the lawn. Took it to a shop and they said it had a scorched cylinder. He didn't want to put the money into it so he offed it to me for $120 (I wasn't gonna haggle too much). He told me he bought it brand new and didn't use it but to fell big trees, so he estimated less than 15 hours of runtime. After my 90 minute drive home i thought to myself, what the heck? Pulled the choke out, pushed in the decomp pulled it twice and it rolled over, pushed the choke in and it FIRED UP! THIRD PULL! I'm so excited.
Promised the wife I wouldn't put any money into it till later, but it can wait, I still got the ol' 036
