I had a couple older cases that I was hoping my MS361 would fit in, but the saw is too high and too long. But I like that problem, much better than a big case and tiny saw....

I like the stihl cases that have the tool holder on the scabbard, but I was looking for something that I could put a quart of premixed gas and chain lube in as well as a stump file setup or something? Anyone have a link to something? A rectangle one with flipdown sides?

Husqvarna powerbox

If the saw will fit, this might be the ticket. I'd check it out before buying because they look roomier than they actually are. There is plenty of room for gas and oil, they are rectangular, has holders for screnches, files, and manuals, even has a slot for the stump vice. Only knock I have is they would work with a lot more saws if they were wider. Full wrap handle is a no go with these.

This is what I use. It has flip open sides and back, fits at least a couple saws and accessories, along with lunch and a cutting buddy. Oh, and it drags the chipper around nicely, too.

I use one of the Stihl cases. Don't know whether you know it, but the scabbard that goes over the bar on Stihl cases has a tube on the top for storing a file in ... I went to a hardware store and bought a black plastic "button" with ribs on it (used for fastening on the panels on car doors, etc.), and use that as a "plug" on the end of the "file tube" on the scabbard. I also keep a wooden file handle, a small plastic "whisk broom" and a small rag inside the case with the saw. The rag is good to put over the chain so I can hold it still when filing, and the whisk broom is good for brushing dirt/dust away from the oil and gas filler caps.

...and hearing protectors, spare chain, extra file, bar nuts, safety glasses, gloves, blah blah blah - the list of take along stuff tends to grow. You may as well just get separate saw case and a saw support case. I used to stuff all my extra stuff in the saw cases, but now with my fleet growing and not knowing week to week which saws I'll take out, I switched to a common support box so I don't need 5 of everything. I keep saw-specific stuff in individual cases (spare chains, essentially) but common stuff (gloves, bar nuts, spark plugs, files and guides, PPE, mix oil, couple bottles of water...) in a support case. Whenever I go cutting, I grab the support case, fuel and oil jugs, and whatever saw cases I need for the day and know I'm covered.

The best parts, I think, about having a separate support item case - not everything smells and feels like bar oil; and it's so much easier to pack-up at the end of the day by not having to figgle everything into a saw case.

Yup.. A double wide milkcrate works as my saw support case. It holds the gallon of oil, 2 gallon fuel mix, wedges, spare chains, files, ear muffs, etc. Got it all in there...

I'm still a bit anal aobut having things under cover, so I use a biggish plastic tool box with removable tray. Helps keeping things in place and the 21-month-old from swiping daddy's stuff. Call it a man-purse, again, if you wish, but the stuff stays clean, dry, organized, and intact.

I just gave a guy 2 cases that would have worked for you, sorry. Just missed by a day. I went to this, holds 4 with up to 18" bars. 20" and over have to be removed and stored in bottom.

I like the idea of a tight case for just the saw and a separate support case, never considered that. The 4 saws in the big case is a good idea too. I think I am getting the chainsaw holder for an ATV for xmas (the kind that bolts the the rack and the bar slides down into the scabbard), so a low profile support case for the front rack would be nice. May just go down to the woodshop and throw some scraps together with an open top and comparments for quart size containers.

I like the stihl scabbord for file and scrench, but the hinge on the case that came with it took a poop a long time ago. I use a 5 gal plastic bucket for oil, gloves, ear muffs, and a gallon of mix on top.

I agree with the separate support case. My ear-muffs and stuff are on the helmet so that just goes on my head. The bits and bobs for both saws and the brush cutters stay in the box.

Even the evil dremel tool for sharpening! Oh for those complaining about the dremel stones I would guess that this stone has done about 10 sharpenings so far and the stone has no ridges on it. It is all in the proper technique being sure to move the stone back and forth to cover all the stone area.

The one complaint that I have about my case is that the top flip up top section is not completely watertight so its gets wet if it gets completely soaked which is a pain.

What works for me is a milk crate as has been said for gas mix, oil and rags are handy and great filler to keep anything from moving or tipping.

Large tool box holds all files, ear muffs, tach, etc, etc,

Saw case holds the saw.

Hockey bag holds all climbing stuff.

I wish Stihl would makeone to fit the 066 as sometimes I just want to throw it into the back of the car and contain it.

I agree I would love to have a case for the 660 for when it is kicking around in the back of the truck.

I have an old Craftmas case.. Hinge tabs broke off.. I slid a 7018 x1/8 welding rood into the case to replace the hinge pin. Been using it for probably ten years like that. beats tossing it out.

Cases? They make saw cases?

They ride in the front seat of my truck on a Cordura pad I made to keep the dogs out of the seat. ...

Where's the seat belt - you want them to be safe, don't you?????:biggrinbounce2:
