McCulloch Welder???????????
Never heard of such??????

I had a McCulloch outboard motor once. I think maybe Mac sold their outboard motor design to someone else. I think it was the Mac yeller color, not sure. Big heavy dud like their saws.
Ever heard of a McCulloch tractor??? This one surprised me 😱

I apologize in advance for the derail but here are some welders.

There were two different carburetors used on the welders, a Tillotson HL 272 and another that looked like the BP-1 carburetor but had a bigger bore.

They were both equipped with a load control that worked off a signal from the crankcase, there were two lines running out to the stinger with a thumb operated switch to set the machine at idle when you weren't welding, then accelerate back to the desired speed/load when you were ready to weld again.

McCulloch also offered a rectifier so you would weld DC. The AC was pretty high frequency (2,600 Hz +/-) so the AC arc was very steady.

Regarding outboards, McCulloch bought Scott-Atwater in 1956 and discontinued production in 1967. At one point they even made an air cooled outboard based on the 87cc saw block. The ignition timing was varied with the throttle, as the throttle opened the ignition timing was advanced.

Now back to How570's 1-45.
