stop by and remove about 6 trees

Im thinking wow I sure would like that wood

If it did'nt have them darn nails in it!!

Last year I removed 3 trees and everyone of them I hit nails guess they did'nt want to ask me this year:clap: :mad: :cry: all at the same time wood is wood till you got to start buying chains

I feel your pain. I have hit at least a dozen nails while collecting "free" firewood from people. In all instances, the chain was almost ruined, and that put an end to the collection session. Residential trees are notorious for embedded nails, lag screws, and eye screws.

One time I ran into a drift pin nail that was case hardened. It was like running into a Mack truck. Sparks flew and I had to throw a brand new chain away. :censored:
 
Be careful with trees in a row. They will have some thing in them most of the time. This tree was already cut down. I was just cutting it up so he could put them on his splitter. He had a stroke.

Surprise !

Thankfully, the cable hanging out was obvious. The threaded rod was completely buried in the tree till i split it. I've never seen a tree with more metal in it than this one.
