i know a man who purchased an 088 in 2000. the saw sits on his shelf with a bar cover, ear muffs hanging from the bar. a good layer of dust is on it now. it has a 32" .404 bar. he also bought with it several chains. in all these years, i have cut almost all of his firewood, using a husky about the size of an 066. he and his son load the rounds as i cut them. i get paid in beer, and the entertainment watching them. i also feel somewhat obligated to cut for them, as whenever the old man (50's) picks up a saw, i try to keep a great distance. whenever he picks up my saw, i have to bite my tongue, its not a pretty sight. he handles the saw like a little girl. his son as far as i know is not allowed to touch the saws, after all he is only 22. they are both big men, but for their size they are the weakest guys i know. but back to the 088. if a saw has never had gas in it, is it still under warranty? does the warranty cover lack of use and a rusty cylinder? he has told the man who he bought the saw from, that it runs great, and the 32" bar is not too long.(biggest tree i have cut for them was 28")
HEY JOHN LAMBERT, DOES THIS SAW RING ANY BELLS?
Sam

Why d oyou ask? are you thinking about buying his 088 from him? From your post I can assume your husky is a 394 or 395 model which is the Husky equal to the 066.I think the warranty is only good from the date the saw is purchased for 2 years thereafter and does not cover lack of use, I dont think it does anyway.Check with the local stihl dealer see what they say, just be careful they dont laugh you out the door. no offense but that is a rather stupid question. I mean the stihl warranty normally only covers workmanship defects and damage due to an accident, I may be leaving out a few things here but I am not familiar with stihl and Husky warrany policy. I know my jonsered is not under warranty because it is about 10 years old at least, I never needed to have any work done on my new Husky 323L trimmer in the year and a half I've had it, since I bought the trimmer new.

i wasnt actually asking if the saw would still be under warranty, obviously it is not. i guess my attempt at humor was feable.

The real joke is the 044 through 088 only carry a 90 day warranty. I would bet they rarely have to honor it although I have seen some guys that could ruin a saw in 90 days.

I'm one of em' give an "unbreakeable tool and I'll break it in a week or less.

Hi Sam, I thought that was you. Tell Rod, I will trade him straight across for a Husky 346.
Tell him I also need a good rifle, such as the Savage Featherweight for plinking Snowshoe rabbits and Ptarmagan.
I have a picture that Rod sent me of his son and some firewood they were cutting, but I can't find it.
Anywho, I may be thru Co. sooner than I think, so I will drop in to see you woodticks then and show you guys how's it's done.

sounds good john, i am just a weekend warrior and would like to see how someone of your stature cuts. i have another 3500 foot easement to cut as soon as the snow melts. some aspen, some lodgpole pine and some doug fir. this time i am taking the logs whether they like it or not. i may be too busy to do the job, if so, you interested? you are welcome to stay at my place. we can get loaded and fire off all kinds of cool toys. .50 caliber with tracers in the night sky is always a good way to get the attentionn of the neighbors. the m16 usually get results too. i dont think rod wants to get rid of the saw, but i cant convince him to use it. he thinks i am nuts to modify any of my saws. he is one of those guys that buys the cheapest mix oil at walmart, and then mixes it at some arbitrary ratio. in his mind if 40 to 1 is good, 20 to 1 is twice as good. hell, he pours bar oil all over the bar every time i sharpen a chain, or put on a new one! but he is a good man, and a good friend, but also good for entertainment. good to hear from you. any advice on my saws is always appreciated. thanks
i have: 026,036,044,066 would like to pick up a hotrodded 044
