New 28" Stihl Bar and chains

Just picked up my new bar and chains for my 044.
It's a 28" Stihl rollomatic with two chains for it.
Bar was $139 CAD and chains were $23 ea.
Can't wait to put it to the test on the big Red Oak trunk I have to block up.
Will post pics of the tree cutting.

where are you getting those prices online? i got a price on a 18" bar for my MS250 and it was 74.99 and 23.99 for the chain?!?! haha

Ouch! Sounds high $ for the bar. I bought (about $50) a Forester Professional Platinum 24" bar for my ms461 and there is no noticeable difference with Stihl bars I have and use.

Your going to like the big bar on the 044. Its what it was made for.

Bars here don't go for near that cheap as in USA. I bought it at a Stihl dealer after spending days looking for one on line. On line prices were around $80-$90 but when shipping was figured in, almost as much as this bar, like within $10.
I figured that I'd spend the extra dollars on bigger bar and chains seeing as I got the Stihl 044 for $350 CAD. If I were to go out to buy that similar saw new, it would be $1200 (new cost for a MS441).
I think I'll be happy and can use the existing 18" bar/chain that came on the 044 as a back-up for my Stihl MS291 I bought new last year.

Nice buy on the 044. I bought a basket case off kijiji for $100 a couple years ago, but it's still in the baskets.

Did they have to order the bar for you? Local Stihl dealer here doesn't seem to carry much of anything over 18". They had to order a 20" bar for my 360. Think it was around the 100 mark. They did have chains in stock.

Guys south of the border have it pretty good for this stuff. Seems cheaper for one thing even at dealer or shop - but also can be ordered online easier & cheaper too. Shipping & duty/brokerage & $ exchange gets us bad.

I thought the price on my 044 was really good. I even bought a Woodsman case for it while on sale for $30 at my Stihl dealership.
Yes I had to order the bar from dealer, he gave me lowest price on bar. The chain is made to order at our place from a big roll. 92 links on the 28" chain.
U.S. shipping and handling costs are way too high sometimes and our dollar doesn't help, plus if there's an issue with bar when I open up the package, I'm covered by my dealer to sort it out for free.
I guess all that I'm missing now is a Stihl hat or T-shirt to show off my pride....ha,ha.

Want a deal? Book mark this seller and watch his auctions. I bought 2 rounds of bar and chains and sold the ones I didn't want locally for chreap and still got my 2 bars and 10 chains for free. Takes some patience as he always lists more but sometimes he does buy it nows. I got the BIN for $220.00 Have at it boys!
