Is there any reason to avoid a brand new saw, I have always kind of wanted one, don’t need it, but want it, I have bigger, and I have smaller. Every time they get sold out I hold my breath, but they keep bringing them back. Is there some reason to avoid brand new and perhaps look for something older, cost is not the deciding factor here, if I bought used it would have to be a shelf queen.
I’ve been looking for other threads on the topic, but they are all 10 or more years old discussing way older saws, interesting, but not relevant to a new 2024/5 saw.

I would buy a new 372 XP original edition from @Robin Wood
I sort of already ordered it… but I haven’t told the Mrs. I was just wondering if I was doing the right thing before its too late to cancel. Kids don’t need shoes..right? Just going to outgrow them anyway…

You will be happy with the XTorq too.

They are a bit heavier, have a bit better low end grunt, have heavier rotating assembly, and yes, have been known to go through a bearing on the PTO side.

I have also been waffling about the 372 and finally couldn’t resist a good price on an XT even though I would have preferred an OE. I figure, if the XT has a major failure, there are enough OE parts around to convert the XT to an OE.

Kids will be fine, guaranteed😁

The full story is that I had been in getting some sundries and discussing the saws likely to be discontinued, he said they still showed they they were showing up in the system, but he couldn’t order one yet, or something like that. He called today to say an estimated ship date of 1/21, did I want one? I said do it, then thought I ought to ask on here. I don’t really imagine he placed the order on Christmas Eve, so I think I could cancel if I really wanted, probably no problem anyway even if I decided no later on. I am curious about the original ones for sale, I am not doing commercial work with it, just a lot of personal firewood and no milling with this one, so I probably wouldn’t see some potential issues manifest. My 20
Year old saw looks like other people’s 2 year old saws, partly I am anal, partly it doesn’t get used every day. Thinking I have a Husqvarna lightweight 24” hanging on the wall, it will probably wear that for the most part.
