I'd love to learn from the ol' man it's just that his son has been running bussiness now for awhile and dad just comes in twice week to do chains.
His "loving" son(A hole) doesn't let any one in shop, even friends the ol' mans known for 50yrs or so.He gets lonely so he comes in does chains
because he loved his work so long and (A Hole) won't let him near front
counter. Really,Really sad!!

No you didn't get screwed. It's most likely 21LP which is rated by Oregon as a "professional" style chain. I've tried both but prefer the narrow kerf style that the 95vp gives you. I'd take it back if you are not happy. Both are "micro chisel" style chains.
Just be aware that you can't use the 95VP and 21LP on the same bar.
95VP is .050 gauge, and 21LP is .058.
For optimum results, the 95VP should be used in combination with a spesial narrow kerf bar.

As stated above your chain looks to me to be the husky version of the oregon LP chain, full chisel chain with the little bumper depth gauge ramp piece... My 30" bar came with 3/8 .050 LP chain, I have only used it a few times so far, but it seems to work ok, when it comes time to replace it though I personally will probably either go Stihl RS or Oregon LG...

Thanks SawTroll
Good to know cause I was fixin too order 2 more chains. Should I just order
2 more of same chain? I do Have Stihl dealer 2 miles away, but what # do
I say I want or What would you put on that Bar? :dizzy:

HUSQVARNA# on my bar
RSNA 18/45 058/1 5
.325 72DL 92510 6G

Thanks

You can get chain at your stihl dealer. Ask for a 72 drive link, .058 gauge, .325 pitch chain. RS will be the fastest stihl chain in clean wood. The 95vp is my personal favorite but as SawTroll mentioned earlier, you would need a different bar to run it.

Thanks for the quick replies, Think I'll just buy another 058 chain for now as spare, then think about a new bar after I put this one thru a bit of wood far awhile. :)

Again Thanks Everone!

What's Funny is it says right on saw use .325 050 w/95VP 72DL. :dizzy:
That is what you would want if your bar was a NK one, but as your dealer has equipped the saw with a standard kerf .058 bar, I suggest that you use either Oregon 21LP or Stihl 35RS. 72DL of course.

Your bar is probably an Oregon Power Match in Husky disguise......

Does that help?

Sorry Thought I mentioned it was from new 353, tie strap says HUSQV,
and only # on tang was 21 Does that help?
Do i need to take it back and get the 95VP???? :Monkey:
Thanks

Yep, that helps, knowing the numbers helps a lot and gets a bigger number of responces with, get this, correct answers. Forgive GASoline, he jumped the gun there. A lot of times the dealers will give you a very close match if they don't have exactly what you want. You got a good chain for what you want to do. 72DL is 72 Drive Links. Don't confuse it with LP which means; low vibration round ground chisel cutters with bumper drive links and standard sequence. Sounds like the Tower of Bable but you can figure it out if you have the numbers. Get yourself (one or more) a free copy/s of Oregons Maintenance and Safety Manual at www.oregonchain.com and just ask them to send it to you.

Me jus 250 pownd wannabe loggger. Need big saw, who care bout chain. If chain make dust, use to put round flower bush. If chain make chips, put in bowl of milk, eat for brakefast. Favorite flavors are hemlock and doug fir...

Seriously though, thanks geofore for goin' easy on me. I tend to jump the gun more than I need to. Got a good chuckle out of it too. :)

#21 indicates .325pitch and .058gauge and LP I explained earlier in this thread. 95VP is .325pitch and .050gauge low vibration MicroChisel cutters with ramped depth gauges, bumpered drive links and narrow kerf. So you need a different bar if you're going to do the switch to 95VP. Do not run .050 gauge on a .058 gauge bar it would tend to cut sideways or half moons as you try to run it through the wood. I know you might try it and not notice the .008" difference till the half moons are cut with your 353 Husqvarna. By then the dealer would notice the wear on the bar and not wish to exchange it. Get it right the first time and cutting woods a pleasure. Though your bar and chain are matched right now they wouldn't match if you just got a loop of 95VP and didn't match the bar.

As i stated in an early post I'm gona stay with bar and chain the saw came with and purchase a couple more chains (.0325-.058 21LP). When those wear out I mit get a new bar & 95VP chains. :) :dizzy:

Thanks all
Mike E.

Don't buy to many chains ahead now, your sprocket and then bar may wear out before all your chains do and then you won't be able to move on to 95VP and a narrow kerf bars

You are of course right, I think the "rule of thumb" is that one bar will last 4 chains, and one rim sprocket 2 chains - but there are of course a lot of variables.
I usually buy my chain in pairs, chain for spesial use not included.

Hey Lobo :)
When i said I'll buy a couple more 21LP chains, I was meaning 1 maybe 2.
But with the one on the saw and 1 more,I think I'll see how fast I can wear
those out, then go back to my dealer and have him set me up to run 95VP w/ new sprocket, bar and 2 chains.Should workout OK that way don't ya
think?? :Eye:
