I just got a new 385XP husky this weekend. I put the new chain and bar (24") but I noticed when using it the chips weren't flying? What is your experience with raker heights for these larger saws? Should I take the rakers down a bit on the new chains? I'm currently cutting softwood. I'm curious of other peoples's experiences.

Thats because it's a 385xp.......Just kidding.....

What do the chips look like that are coming out ??? Chips or Dust??

.

I am pretty sure that thje rakers on new chains are set in between for softwood or hardwood, cut best in both. Probably .28 thosandths or .275 thosandths. I wouldn't lower them. But I would check the chain for sharpness.;)
