The BB kit Matt got and installed onto my 660 is still going,i only mill with it and so far so good.I would not say power wise it is any better or worse than the OEM one but it sounds differant.
There is no way i would put a BB kit on a new 660 if you are looking for power, only a port job you will find that.

I've sold a number of those kits now Andrew (with Caber rings included) and have had no issues at all. Some have even been to pro firewood cutters and those guys certainly know how to abuse a saw. The earlier generation kits I imported were nothing but trouble...

I agree for a tree this size, but how many times would he be coming across a log this big? if this is what he is coming across evey second trip then maybe, but if so then he needs to go 4x4 with a D9:msp_biggrin:

On a recent high country trip we came across easily 20+ fallen trees, most around the 20-30'' diameter, but one was much much larger, we drove around this one.

Chainsaws

Hi Everybody,

Not bad, probably would have enjoyed the challenge of getting around that one.

One trip I went on, we grabbed this litle twig, and dragged it back to the campsite..........

At the campsite some surgery was done to it..........

Later on, since it was so cold and wet, we achieved this result, with the help of a garden blower.

I have a new bar coming for the 4620, better chain and a shorter bar. Stihl decision is close to being finalised.

Phase 1 is complete.

Hello Everybody,

Phase one of the plan is complete. As part of the plan I was going to reduce the bar length and put some decent chain on the 4620 to get the power up. 46cc's pulling a 20" chain is a joke, but 46cc's pulling a 16" chain is within the realms of this saw. Looking forward to cutting some wood with it. Will let you know how it went after next weekend.

Big thanks to Matt for helping me out with this one, it took a while to find the right bar. One end of the saw now looks professional, just need to paint it orange and white :msp_biggrin: I would be happy to deal with Matt again in the future.

Regards

Thanks for the plug Graham but in all honesty I should have cottoned on earlier that the bar mount was a very common mount - the same as the newer Poulans and all of their clones (including your saw). I had standard 3/8" chain in my head, not low profile stuff...

I'll be sending another 4620 owner your way mate, I have a friend of mine who has a 4620 and a Stihl 034AV, and will probably need sorting out for both.

Regards
Graham
