New equipment= slower climbing?

I thought double lockers were mandated as an extra measure to prevent climber fatalities. If that's the case, why is it so hard to switch? Sounds like a good reason to me.

To prevent accidental opening, I have not heard of fatalites related to it, but, I've had a nonsafety snape open on me.
