not sure if this is the right section so mods feel free to move if it isn't but...

i'm looking at a puma harness and it has the front rope bridge and i was wondering what would work best to tie into this with the least amount of friction?

im also not looking for a bunch of posts flaming me for this question so if you don't have any helpful info on what i need for this please just don't post.

thanks in advance

I just clip into my rope bridge with a caribiner. I guess you could use a pulley but I think most would agree that is a little bit overkill. Personally, I don't like cluttering up my setup with a bunch of jingle crap that can pinch you and weigh you down.

This is the right place!
But posting that u don't want flames, here, in a way, is kinda asking for them, LOL!

I use a pulley, the CMI double loop, micro (don't know actual name) Rolls real nice! MD is right, ya can get too much junk right there, so ya got watch it. I don't know your saddle or how it would work with it. I use a Cougar and it works pretty good, cant imagine it would be much different.

Let me be the first to flame you..........:blob2:

As for your question, the mouse ear pulley works fine. I found the pulley on the bridge to be a bit too friction free, so now I just use a biner. To each their own......

I also use the Cougar Saddle. How well do those rubber donuts on your rope bridge work for positioning your pully? I ask because i currently just use a biner but i get tired of it jumping over the rubber donuts.

I use this pully on my Glide light. The rubber donuts are larger then the space in the side of the pully preventing it from passing the rubber.

Those rubber donuts are for biners or as a stop for the pulley. If using biners and u want them to stay put, instead of sliding on the bridge, u put the biner in between them( 2 on each side), wherever u want them on the bridge, some guys clip them in on the far sides where the bridge core is exposed( the white part), dont do that. U can slide them onto the bridge and use them to center ur biners or, Like I do, I keep them pushed to the far sides, that way I have full range on the bridge with the mouse pulley, they act as a "soft" stop if ur cranking around all the time and protect the core. If u want to limit the range of motion, slide them (the grommets/donuts) onto the bridge wherever u want. If your clipping into the bridge with one or two biners and not using the stops or a pulley, if you have them pushed all the way to the sides and they are still getting hung up on them, not much you can do. Try it with a micro once, u may be surprised at the smoothness and those pulleys never jump over anything. This is my first saddle with a bridge, I will never go back!

Does that make sense? I think it makes sense, but I am not sure it makes sense, u tell me! I might get wild and crazy manyana and set it up the different ways and take pics, but I am not sure how motivated I will be tomorrow, lol!

Makes sence thanks for taking the time to type all of that. Im going to try your setup asap. I dont know if its my climbing style or what but when im moving about on the drt setup that i like, those "rubber snubbers" dont do jack. Ill be walking out on a limb and all the sudden both biners ( when on this drt setup ) will jump over and mess with my balance. PITA.

I've been using a Petzl ring, but I'm not sure that it would be easy to install on your saddle. If you do use a carabiner, I'd suggest using a oval shaped like Rock-O, OK, or Ultra O so that the biner has a lesser chance of loading across anything but its major axis.

Havent been too fond of swivels lately because they seem to allow the rope to twist quite a bit during ascending.

I was wondering about those, been looking at those Rock Exotica swivels, you no likey?

at first they seem like a really great idea, and they do work well for getting the twists out of your line that will happen as you work a tree; but to me, it seems more of a pita to use them BECAUSE of the fact that they allow your rope to twist lol. More so if you are using a rope that coils up like a phone cord and there are some that do that really bad. or a rope that has a lot of memory in it, or was coiled up instead of being flaked into a rope bag. The bottom line for me was that I was having more problems with twisted up rope when I was using a swivel; without a swivel, I just safety in with a flipline, unsnap a biner and flip the one twist out and move on.

I havent given my swivel away yet though, if that means anything lol

Interesting, I take the opposite approach, undo the lanyard, kick back and rotate mid-air to get the twist out. I don't worry about a 1/2 twist. Just different ways to skin a cat.

I guess it depends on if your working end and running ends art twisted up, or if its just the area running through your friction hitch? I think im visualizing this right.
