Sort of, but I would rather compare iy to other smaller cc and / or lower power saws on a chassis that initially was for a larger cc/mlore powerfull engine, like the MS650, MS341, 034, 024, Dolmar 4600S, 7300, 6400, Husky 365, 359, 570.

You forgot the 353.:givebeer:

I think the 362 is kind of a waste when you compare it to the 357 power/weight/price. I wish they put the 362 p&c on the 359 bottom. then your getting somewhere.

But originaly at 12 pds with 4.6 hp, it was a good weight to power, ....
More like a bit more than 13 lbs.

According to DLG/KWF the 362xp is more than a pound heavier than the MS361, and over here they have the same power......

I couldn't agree more!

Like most AS members, I too would always choose the best cylinder on a given saw chassis. 372 over the 362, 2156 over the 2159, 5100 over the 510, on and on. (of course we all make an exception when we come accross a used saw cheap)

So, you look at some of these lesser models and get to wondering "What's the point?" Well, the point is price points. The OEM's need lots of models to keep the price gaps between saws small enough to be easy to jump up a few rungs on the ladder. Most guys will jump a step or two. And the cost difference at the factory level is almost to small to measure. It certainly doesn't cost them $150 more to make the 372 over the 365. If you look up the replacement cylinders, they cost just about the same. So, the hotter models are the real profit makers for the OEM's. I've seen on commercial mowers where the ONLY difference separating 2 engines with different horsepower ratings was a governer spring; and the price spread was $300.

This isn't a criticizm, just an observation. We all expect to pay more for more power. And they love it when we do!

first year

I am trying to find out what year the 362xp came out.I guess i just don't no where to look.I know it was Europe but can't find the year. Also is there a site that will tell you this?362xp=19xx,55=19xx etc.
Thanks,

314, the IPL library on Huskys web-site (at least the UK, US and Norweian ones) will tell you most of the story, with only a slight margin of error, all the way back to 1972 or so.:)

I believe that Husky is the only saw brand that has such a library easily acessible to the public. again!

I believe that the 362xp came out in 1998, after the 371xp in 1995 and the 365 in 1996.
