While lookin around on baileys today, i came across a new Husqvarna saw. It was called the 385XP. I really like it but i also like the MS660 from stihl. I'm kinda leanin towards the 385. Any experiance with either?

The 385 is not really new anymore, I have both a 066 and a ms660 and i really like them ....and im a husky man! Never run a 385 but i hear good things about them. The 395xp would be more comparable to the ms660 as the 385 is slightly smaller. You are young to be running saws like this, but dont let that stop you it didnt me:laugh: . Im sure you would be overwhelmed with any of these saws.

My friend is like 5',7" and runs a Husky 371XP with a 35" bar on it! But come on, we live in buckley! I really like the 385 though. $670 at baileys but the bar is not included.

Well if you want to smoke your friends 371 then the 385 will do it. The 385 is a fast saw from what i know about it.Go ahead.........get it:D

For the money the 385 is my choice here.....New 660 you are looking at 950.00 and up around here...and plus tax.

A Dolmar PS 7900 will outcut a 385 Husky, stock, some say, and weighs and costs less. distribution in the NW is non existent, though.....

Mine isn't stock, nor are my 372's, which show bigger gains when modded than the Dolmar. It's a great saw with loads of torque.
This was two years ago, when it was new.

The wood must be softer or the days longer where you come from. :)

Those dolmars just flat out look good.Is there anywhere on the web you can order them?

I was looking at the MS660, Husky395xp, and the Dolmar 9010. After alot of debating , I have decided to wait on the new MS661 Stihl. The Dolmar is no doubt a nice saw but when you get into the larger bars the number of drive links changes to where as you can't use the Stihl chains. Kind of an oddball size. As of right now I can use the Stihl chains on my 372 xp in both the 16" & 20" bars, which is rather convenient. I love my Husky but after weighing the pros and cons of an external clutch I am set on the Stihl.

If you limit yourself to premade loops, the kind that are hanging on the display board at the saw shop, then this is true. But last time I checked you can have loops of Stihl chain spun up in whatever number of links your desire.

A number of guys on Arboristsite sell them and can set you up. And you're right, they are good looking saws, even when they are blue-and-gray in color:

Yeah, i know. When i bought it, i questioned the bar size. He said it works just fine with the 28" bar. Amazingly, it does. It never dies through anything. It cuts right on through! The 385 i like because of the price and size. Plus, it looks like Husky has the best saws on the market right now. I dunno, i'm still new to really getting into chainsaws more, but i have heard that husky's are the best...

i think all three brands are great saws.

just depends on what feels good in your hands and how much close dealer support matters.i do think husky has a great lineup at the moment and i am enjoying my husky purchases with a grin from ear to ear.i cannot say enough about the new 357xp i just bought.

I think that there is a Husky dealer about 20 minutes from where i live. I might go down there someday and check out there saws.

I had a 385 for a few years.Good saw with plenty of power.
I am sure it is, but the MS660 should easily beat it - more power for not too much added weight.

Over here the choise would have been real easy, as the MS660 also cost noticably less......:biggrinbounce2:

The 385xp was released in 2002, I believe.
