I was cruising through the German Husky site and came across
four new saws.
Two new top handles, the 334T, and the 338XPT, 35 and 39
cubic centimeters respectively.
Two new different looking critters, the 336, and the 339 XPT,
also 35 and 39 cubic centimeters.
The 35 is rated at 2HP, and the 39 at 2.3HP.
Are they heading our way?

Otto claims to speak some Teutonic/Aryan jibberish, plus he
worships Husqvarna. Invoke his name, and he may translate.
I love his avaataaaarr!

From the Husky website; 339 with the wierd Stihl 009-style handle has this copy:

Griffen sorgt.

What I think they're saying:

One of the easiest saws for the professional to use.
The handles are made so that optimum control and ergonomics is given.
The perfect implement (tool?) for (something...probably) that is light, handles easily, and manoeuverable with high (productivity?)

The saw features a (high-something-wind-something? ...high performance?) motor) with high rev's and vibration damping with (hooded cushions...must be rubber dampers) that (ends worries?) of vibration at the handles.

I got a headache.

maybe there's a free service you can cut and paste to somehwere...

Supposedly that 353 they got on their is gonna replace the 55 and the 351 as neither one of those saws pass EPA. I took German over and over again in college so I'm not much help. A lot of it reads like a literal translation from the husky US page.

Southwestfastener's website shows the 353 Husky. It's advirtised as having a magnesium crankcase and being a beefed-up 351.

One of the lowest weight chainsaws for professional use. The handles are designed for optimal control and ergonomy. The perfect tool for the one who needs a high power chainsaw which is light, easy to handle and easy to manoever. This saw sports a high power engine with high acceleration and vibration damping with steel springs which assures low vibration in the handles.

Thanks for the real translation, Huskyracer. A lot better than I can do anymore .

When I was a kid, my Grandma's were so proud that I could read a little in the bible...both in Swede and German.

It's not like it really matters much, is it?

Thanks to both of you. By blood, I should know German and
Norwegian. If hard pressed, I think I could count to ten in
German. I'd really like to take the time to learn a little of both.
Anyone understand the premise behind the 336/339? I must
be missing something.

The 336 and 339 appear the same as the 334 and 338 but with a rear handle.

The 334 is the same engine size as the 335 was, but with reduced power. The 338 is 4 cc bigger, but only puts out 0.1 more hp than the old saw, and is supposedly 0.2 lb heavier. Same saw body, I wonder why the weight is different? Or if it really is still the same....

Doesn't look like any real improvements. But maybe they're refined the carb (and whole saw) for more reliablility.

Doesn't look like these new saws could hold a candle to the Cali, at least in terms of displacement. How does the hp compare? Why would I want a rear handle in a tree saw anyway?

I don't own a Cali yet, but I'm considering buying one. Right now, I don't think I'd hold out for one of these new versions, unless one of you guys can show me their worth.

Cali is a good saw, I'm very happy with mine. Try to get them to sell you one with the new plug cover that does not pop or break off like the original. I bought a new one at the shop for $9.

Tangential to topic:

I've missed something and have tried to be patient in the hopes it would become evident... I'd like to know what "Cali" signifies.

Perhaps the reason for Husqy to introduce a rear-handle version of their top-handle saw is to emulate Stihl's <a href="http://stihl.de/katalog/datenblatt/11292080000/0/default.htm">MS200</a> (machine-<a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fstihl.de%2Fkatalog%2Fdatenblatt%2F11292080000%2F0%2Fdefault.htm&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1">translated</a>).

They remind me of <a href="http://www.acresinternet.com/sites/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/7340d0ab0d27835688256c2600491a3b?OpenDocument">this</a>.

Translated this means:
Husvqvarna is the best saw made, other than Jonsered. Everyone with a Jonsered will be blessed with many Swedish women, and Husqvarna sewing machines and dirt bikes rule
:D
