Watched a webinar today which discussed some newer Husqvarna battery powered chainsaws: 540i XP (rear handle) and T540i XP (top handle). They claim to have the power of a 40 cc 2-cycle saw. Also, include more 'PRO' features, such as more magnesium in the housing instead of plastic, and upgraded batteries. Water resistant to rain and splashes, but not submersible. Said to be available in the US in 'mid-August', 2020 (but who knows with new product releases and COVD?).

Here are some links for general information:

Honestly the company owns a 161 Stihl battery operated top handle. The t540i xp is actually very very nice. A husqvarna sales rep randomly just pulled into our job site. And broke that baby out and said have fun with it for a bit. It really cuts well. They are pre set with .043, .325 bars and chains. And it‘a very well balance with their new battery they are also releasing same day as the saw. It can fit the tradition 300 battery but it definitely throws the balance way off. The saw has see thru Oiler window which I think is really nice. An eco button up on the handle to save battery and it “tunes”the saw down a bit. There’s a battery gauge on the battery itself as well as one on the top of the handle, a red light that illuminates when the brake is engaged, dual post chain brake, a belt loop as well as metal lanyard loop like the gas 540. It has a dual activated safety operator presence lever, so it’s a slight slide up and push down motion. In my opinion it has tons of torque and power. I was bore cutting maple chunks with it to really see what it could do. Zipped into it without hesitation, it also cut 16” cookies with a 14” bar buried and me having to roll the chunk to finish the cookie and it again get great. A nice size and relatively quiet like most battery saws. It’s a snotty little saw for sure. Price point is going to be a bit steep at just under $1100 u.s before taxes for a kit with the saw, rapid charger and the bx200 battery.

It definitely feels like a quality built saw and doesn’t in my opinion feel like a toy by any stress it actually feels like a substantial tool without being overly bulky or cumbersome. I could see myself buying one for early morning residential bucket or man lift work while trying to respectfully be as quiet as possible for the neighbors within ear shot until a petrol saw is absolutely necessary
