From Jonsered;

New hobby saws from Jonsered

Jonsered has developed a new generation of chainsaw for demanding recreational users. The new hobby saws are equipped with technical features that make them easy to start and use. Another important addition is the Clean Power engine technology that produces cleaner emissions and lower fuel consumption.

The hobby saws are the smallest chainsaws in the Jonsered range.
“The users are primarily home or holiday cottage owners who want a chainsaw that is easy to handle and reliable,” explains Niklas Bergquist, Product Specialist at Jonsered. “These saws are ideal for simple sawing work such as cutting firewood and limbing, but are even capable of felling small trees whenever the need arises.”

Simpler to start and use
The new models are called CS 2234 S, CS 2238 and CS 2238 S. All the models are easier to start and use than their predecessors. The saw is also more comfortable to hold and work with. Using a combined choke and stop control, you reset the stop button to operating position by pulling out the choke. This means that the user does not have to worry about whether the stop button has been activated or not. Opening and closing the filler cap has also been made easier.

Tool-free chain tightening
The S-models (CS 2234 S and CS 2238 S) are fitted with the Spin Start function which reduces pull resistance in the starter cord by up to 40 percent. These saws also have a feature called tool-free chain tensioning. This means the chain is tensioned quickly and easily using a control on the side of the chainsaw. The same control is used when replacing the guide bar and chain. Consequently, you do not need any special tools to handle your cutting equipment.

New environmentally-friendly engine technology
The new hobby saws from Jonsered are fitted with the Clean Power engine technology that produces cleaner emissions and lowers fuel consumption. Emissions from the engine are 60 % lower and fuel consumption 20 % less compared to a conventional two-stroke engine of the same size. The Clean Power engines also have a higher torque which increases output. In practice this means users get a more powerful chainsaw, cleaner air to breathe and they do not need to carry as much fuel.
“Jonsered is always aiming to be on the cutting edge as regards new technology and environment awareness,” Niklas Bergquist adds. “All of our new hobby saws meet the stringent environmental requirements introduced in the EU and US in 2008.”

New and extremely versatile chainsaws

Jonsered launches a new generation of all-round saws. The new chainsaws are ideal for light jobs, but can also handle more demanding forestry work. In addition they are fitted with the Clean Power engine technology that produces cleaner emissions and lowers fuel consumption.

The new CS 2245, CS 2245 S and CS 2250 S models are fitted with several new functions that make life easy for the user. A decompression valve that lowers the compression in the engine and a fuel pump that supplies fuel to the carburettor means that less power is required to get the machine started, even after a long break. The S-models (CS 2245 S and CS 2250 S) are also fitted with Spin Start which reduces pull resistance in the starter cord by up to 40 percent. Other technical innovations that facilitate for the user are the integrated start and stop control and a visible fuel level window.
“The customer gets a lot of saw for his money,” says Niklas Bergquist, Product Specialist at Jonsered. “The new all-round saws are easy to use but they look and feel like professional models. They are ideal for light jobs, but can also handle more demanding forestry work.”

Environmentally-friendly, powerful engine
The engines are both more powerful and environmentally friendly than previous models. Jonsered's new Clean Power engine technology produces a higher torque and offer raw power at low revs. And emissions from the engine are 60 % lower and fuel consumption 20 % less compared to a conventional two-stroke engine of the same size.
“The Clean Power engines meet the new emission requirements introduced in the EU and US in 2008,” Niklas Bergquist explains. “The user gets a more powerful chainsaw, cleaner air to breathe and he does not need to carry as much fuel when working out in the forest.”

Easy to look after and clean
The chainsaws are easy to look after and clean. The Turbo technology in Jonsered's air purification system uses centrifugal force and separates up to 97 percent of all sawdust and other dust from the intake air. This means the air filter does not need cleaning as often as normal chainsaws.

In order to make the saw easier to clean and maintain there is a handy snap lock on the cylinder cover. The saws also have a feature called tool-free chain tensioning. This means the chain is tensioned quickly and easily using a control on the side of the chainsaw. The same control is used when replacing the guide bar and chain. Consequently, you do not need any special tools to look after your saw.

Sounds like red versions of the new smaller 400-series and 200-series Husky consumer saws - not good news at all......

....but thanks for sharing!

I disagree, I think that is great news. JReds have had a bad small saw for the past few years, and early rumors are that the new 200 series Husky's aren't that bad. A big improvement over its predecessors.

The 400 series saws, well we all knew it was coming. At least there are new JReds.

Well, nobody did really expect Jonsered to be allowed to come out with a new great model that Husqvarna did not have already, or? Here they weren't even allowed to sell the 2255 until the 455 had been discontinued... Btw, the 2186 is also gone, although my dealer was not aware of this and thought he would have no problem getting one if I needed it... LOL! Needed... Of course I do, who doesn't?

But back to topic, the looks of these saws... I was starting to get used to the looks of the 2255, but now when they're multiplying I'm not so sure anymore. I think I'll have to sum up what really good looking saws I need to own before it's too late...

Mag58, good catch, nice of you to share!

Well, the power rating on the new 200-series looks like a diaster, but the later 100-series ones also were highly downrated compared to earlier versions (in the US, that is) - furure will tell how they really are, I don't even know for sure where they are made..........

We've been told that it is a "Swedish engine", but they are assembled down in Cajun country.

This was in another thread and Spike knows his stuff.

So you don't have the 455 and 2186, here we have the Husqvarna 455 e-series RANCHER and 455 RANCHER, and Jonsered CS 2186 and CS 2186WH....

I notised that as well - btw, the Husky 450e seem to be rated at more power here, than in the US, as with the 455 - but who really cares......:)

I guess we will be seeing new saw's from all the manufactures soon. As usual Husky /Jred is the first of the mark :)

The Stihl 181, 211, etc has been out for a while, as well (at least in Germany) - mainly the same deal, except that the 211 actually looks better than the 210 on paper (lighter) - try the German Stihl site for more info....

I will do that at least I can read German:)
I am guessing here but have a feeling all new Stils will have a 1 behind the number soon 661lol:)

No, they're gone since this years line up, at least from the websites and from the catalogues.

Judging from their advertising Husqvarna seems to want the former target audience of the 455 (the 460 was never sold here) to get the new 450 now. I guess that's why they let Jonsered have the 455 to build a 2255 of. Since most Husqvarna dealers sells Jonsered as well they could always show that one for the customer that thinks the 450 is too small.

I can't really understand why the 2186 went away; even if sales are low it couldn't have been that much of a burden for them to keep selling it, even if only on special order. I mean it's still manufactured and sold on other markets. Maybe they have begun transforming the Jonsered image more towards consumer products to keep Husqvarna the sole professional brand in the group.
