Hello guys!!!

The Stihl MS-381 is real, here in Argentina is going to be available this year. That is made in Brazil.

Theirs new features are a new cylinder with a decompression valve, a new cylinder shroud, a new gas tank (it was changed for the new handle), new fuel line (made on two pieces like MS 660), new handle (with new angle and the same thickness like MS 660), new hand guard, new chain catcher, new clutch, new collar studs (same MS-441), new chain sprocket cover (same MS-441), new muffler (the covert has four screws) and a new air filter (70 microns).

So it weighs 14.5lbs. 6.6kg*2.2lbs per.

It is 72cc? If so, I kinda doubt we would see it here.
3.9kw should be about 5.2-3 hp.

Doesn't seem like a natural fit for here.

We'll never see it here unless it's EPA'd... Sure wish they'd put an HD filter on it..

...and... Welcome to AS

Tell us about the timber / chainsaws in Argentina!

Welcome AS Dan-Tor. Good info. It's always interesting to see what's going on/available elsewhere. BTW your written english is fine, better than some of the english speaking posters here....:hmm3grin2orange:

I forgot to tell you that it isn’t a new design it is made from the old MS-380/038.
It is only an update.

There is a slight power output improvement over the 380, and a larger one over the 038 Mag II, I believe - but I don't understand why they still are kicking a :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

Welcome Dan-Tor!! - Interesting info!

IIRC, those are nearly the same specs for the old 038 magnum IIs. In the US market the 044/440 and now the 441 replaced the 038 Magnum. I liked the 38s in action, but I have never owned one, just were impressed with what they could do when a tree surgeopn that let me take firewood from his worksite was using them. They pulled full chisel full comp on a 25" hardnose with no problem at all in hardwood.

As Dan-tor mentioned. It's just an updated MS380, which was the 038MAG2 in the USA market.

Troll - unless you've run an 038 mag2, you'll never understand... :)

Brazilian Quality? I've been though a few Brazilian 038 Mag2's (the last couple of years in the USA were all Brazil made) - Perfect - just like German or USA Stihls.
