I have an 028s and a new to me OEM cylinder that has a slight wear lip in it. Is there an easy way to ensure that the top ring on a new piston won't beat itself to death on the lip?
There shouldn’t be a lip. The plating is very thin but very hard. It’s probably carbon. Emery paper or red/green scotchbrite on a mandrel in a drill or rotory tool will clean it up.I have an 028s and a new to me OEM cylinder that has a slight wear lip in it. Unfortunately carbon isn't shiny and doesn't take a crosshatch. I guess I'll just junk it and try the farmertec cylinder. ThanksThere shouldn’t be a lip. The plating is very thin but very hard. I've never seen a plated cylinder do that.Unfortunately carbon isn't shiny and doesn't take a crosshatch. I guess I'll just junk it and try the farmertec cylinder. Thanks
No kidding. I have never seen that in 5-600 cylinders that I’ve been into.
I'd guess most saws seize up from neglect long before they wear out. Hopefully this Chinese cylinder will work out.No kidding. I have never seen that in 5-600 cylinders that I’ve been into.
I didn't get it cleaned up to look until now, and it looks like I was scammed. Has c and an n5 on top, and a funny looking dollar sign and 97974a. This probably explains why it is worn out.And just to confirm is says “Mahle” on the cylinder? Or KS?
Pics of the funny looking $? That’s probably a KolbenchmidtI didn't get it cleaned up to look until now, and it looks like I was scammed. Has c and an n5 on top, and a funny looking dollar sign and 97974a. This probably explains why it is worn out.
It is an elongated S with a K in it. Its much easier to ID when you know what you're looking for.Pics of the funny looking $? That’s probably a Kolbenchmidt
Lol, even huskihl spelled it wrong so you are not alone, its Kolbenschmidt. The KS symbol (one letter over another) is genuine oem. It’s that make that Husk said above that I can’t spell or say!
Well it likely is, LOLPics of the funny looking $? That’s probably a Kolbenchmidt
It was close enough Google knew what he meant. That's a win in my book.Lol, even huskihl spelled it wrong so you are not alone, its Kolbenschmidt.
We all know what it is so its all in good fun between us. That cylinder of yours is an oddity, I have torn down and repaired many dozens of 028`s and not seen anything like that.It was close enough Google knew what he meant. That's a win in my book.
Surely one of those was not worth the trouble and you'd be happy to send me a cylinder....We all know what it is so its all in good fun between us. That cylinder of yours is an oddity, I have torn down and repaired many dozens of 028`s and not seen anything like that.
