I prefer Velocity to Fly. I found fly did not wear as well, too soft for my taste and a bit too dynamic.

Velocity has a coating on it that makes it a better footlocking rope, especially for big people like me. Dave's 120# vegan-crackhead looking body probably does not need to worry about that

A great rope is New England Saftey Blue Hi Vee.

I bought a few closeout hanks of Hi Vee from Wesspur, just to try out something "new." I was pleased enough to order another 150 ft hank. My TrueBlue may just have to be relegated to a light rigging and bull rope.

I've never liked the feel of hollow core ropes. When I went to the smaller diameters, i never looked at 1/2 inch again.

Yale XTC Fire for me. Goes through my ascenders well, and both Bee-line and Ice work well with it, but a little heavy. Next on my list is Lava.

I climbed on the Safety Blue for years and still do in sappy pines or in muddy/dirty conditions. Great rope. Tough and affordable. Climbed on True Blue before that. I went to Poison Ivy a few years ago. Wasn't crazy about it at first but it has really grown on me (no pun intended).
