Mine isn't modified at all, not even the muffler. Initially I was little disappointed with it. But it has only gotten stronger and stronger and I love it. I will routinely fell and buck up to 14-16" diameter hardwoods. I'm fixin' to get me another.

I've noticed that every saw I've purchased new takes awhile to get up a full sack... I figured the motor needs to "break in".

bwalker, Easier than Stihl or Efco or Solo or Shindiawa, even Echo. Of course, there is bias in that, I have worked on a lot more e-lux stuff. I can have the piston in my hand on a Jonsered/Husky quicker than any other make.

I'm getting real good at bodywork on 2186s lol. Many loggers do not wear out saws, they tear them up.

saw choice

I personaly own 4 huskys and the oldest is a 61 about 12 years old and looks better than some guys saws that are 2 months old.
the big factor i see is have about 60 cc size and a 20" and a 16 " bar and a couple of spare chains for each. Im a extremeist on saw maintenance and use of high octane fuel , sharp chains .

Thanks to everyone who provided info. After getting my hands on most of the major brands, I went with an Echo CS-520. The Echo simply felt better in my hands.

I've not put much time on it, but the difference between the Echo and my old Poulan is like night and day.

Thanks again.
