There is a very nice video somewhere here on AS showing a vintage chainsaw featuring an electric starter, I was amazed how well it worked in the clip!

So, electric start is no novelty either - yet the manufacturers will raise prices an blame development costs!

Would those be liquid cooled though?

Yes but doesn't mean it can't be applied to an air cooled engine.
